I preached through Luke off and on over the last three years, this commentary was one of my most-frequented books. I didn't read it cover to cover, but I can safely say I read at least 2/3 of it (thus I think it's fair to say I "read" it due to the nature of this type of book). When the three other go-to commentaries I was using for sermon prep would let me down, something in Geldenhuys' notes would often get the creative juices flowing. It's a good resource--the old commentaries from big name series seem to often be better than the new ones.

An old standby in the NICNT series. Not much depth or detail and very "traditional". Geldenhuys does occasionally offer some helpful insights aimed at application. Joel Green's replacement volume in the series is of a very, very different style, but is far superior.
