You can tell I am struggling to reach my GR target for the year when I start including books I have read to my 5 month old. Still this book has very few reviews and absolutely gorgeous illustrations that look different from ones I usually come across.
Its hard judging a story intended for young kids as what makes a book is really whether they connect with it (not that 5 month olds connect with anything except chewability and the sound of my voice) - but the story seems fine, if not the type of thing to produce many giggles.
What a lovely book! I loved the pictures and the story. I think it often gets overlooked in the library because it is not sparkling and too colorful, but I am glad my girl chose it. She loved it too. I can only say that illustrations certainly did take a lot of work for author to complete. I wish it was more popular. It is a great way to introduce children to needlework too, at least to encourage them to try to make their own bug :)
This book tells the story of a little bug who meets a little girl bug who does things very differently from him. The gender stereotypes that are in the book irked me possibly more than a little bit -but the overall thought that sometimes differences are what we are attracted to in others was a nice redeeming feature.
