I believe this is a good text for those beginning or extending their genealogical journey. However, the print version has VERY small print, which essentially ignores many genealogists (older family historians).
So, I definitely recommend the book itself, but those that have trouble easily reading smaller-than-usual print should look for the ebook version, in hopes that you can change the size of the font when using a reader!
Most of this book wasn't relevant to me -- either because I already knew about it or because of its focus on American records. But I did learn about the American censuses. And it seemed to be well written but not stuffy. Probably good for a young person or someone starting out. Good basic principles.
But published in 2011, the online aspect is surely dated, which is a big problem considering how much easier and more prevalent online research has become.
With many people interested in tracing their roots, this easy to read book contains some useful information, giving logical procedures to follow. It gives brief descriptions and examples of many information sources.
