All parents know the frustrations of trying to work out a child's needs when they are too young to communicate with words. This easy-to-use guide helps parents teach their children basic signs, allowing the child to express themselves from as early as seven months.
An introduction explains how baby signing developed and its uses for the reader and their child. This leads into the main body of the book which is divided into themed categories, and then each entry is alphabetized within for easy use.
Baby Signs is a reader-friendly practical guide will help to develop a child's learning abilities at the earliest possible stage, and helps create an invaluable bond between parent and child.
Clear pictures, descriptions to help you understand each sign, plus information about the benefits of using sign for babies who are developing their language skills. It addresses some of the misconceptions or frequently asked questions regarding using sign, then breaks down many of the basic signs into groups (like playtime, mealtime, etc). They even give advice as to when to use or introduce new signs, and ideas as to how to incorporate signs into your routines. Pretty good beginner book.
This is a nice size book with a ton of signs with a picture of how to made the sign. Perfect for anybody but it does center around signs babies/young children would use. InshAllah (God willing) I'll learn this and teach it to any future children I have.
Teaching sign language to babies/young children is great for communication especially when the child can not speak yet and is a great tool to have even when they are older.
I'm still reading this book but it's nice to be able to learn easy signs to communicate with my baby! He's six months old and I can tell that when he understands that I understand what he wants, he calms down and relaxes. I wish I would have had this book when my older kids were young.
This was given to my daughter. I like that it gives some explanations about ASL as well as Baby Signs. My daughter likes to flip through it and ask about different signs that catch her eye. A fun way for her to pick up signs that I haven't taught her yet.
This is so much fun! Our daughter has really caught on to some of the signs. We keep it close by for easy reference. The only issue is that there are a few signs missing that we feel would be really helpful (icky, you're welcome for example).
