My Series #1

My Captor, My Love

Rate this book
A complete novel of approximately 100,700 words. Can there really be a secret Indian tribe living in a secluded valley a week's ride from Mammoth Lakes? Yes, and men have left their village for supplies...Danielle wanted to go back home, but Honon chased her down each time she ran...at first. In the beginning she didn't understand why she'd been taken. Later, her heart had been broken too much to stay. She had to stop her escalating feelings for Honon, even though he gave her more highly charged passion than she'd ever dreamed of. No matter what move she'll make, it will cause her even more heartache. No matter how far she runs, Dani can't escape her desire for Honon. The chief's son knows what he wants as soon as he sees Dani and her long fiery hair...then he catches a glimpse of her creamy white skin. When opportunity and lust strikes, Honon takes her - even though she's meant for someone else. He sees her fear...and her yearning glimpses. He wants to give her his body, but not his heart. Can he trust her or is she playing him for a fool? Can he let go of the past or will pride cause him to lose more than Dani?

FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED. I'm sorry for my filthy language but I was beyond angry!!

"Getting rid of a delusion makes us wiser than getting hold of a truth."
- by Ludwig Borne -

"Truth may sometimes hurt but delusion harms."
- by Vanna Bonta -

For the first 25 %: 0 (yes, 0) stars
For the rest of the story: 1 star (I was beyond angry and I still am. That's the reason it wasn't a 2-star rating)

I added new shelves: deluded-quixotic-heroine, spoiled-brat-hero, Neanderthal-hero.

Be aware, my review is kinda SPOILER-ISH

Honestly, is this a bad joke??? When I was 7 % done with this story I wanted to trash my Kindle. Correction. I wanted to buy a paperback edition and burn the damn thing!!! UNFUCKINGBELIEVABLE! Wow, a so-called hero who mistreats the so-called heroine. Both of them didn't deserve to be called H/h!

Our deluded and quixotic heroine is kidnapped by a bunch of Native Americans while she's on vacation with her best friend in the mountains of Mammoth Lakes. The tribe is living somewhere in a secret valley. To secure their survival, the Native Americans are "forced" to kidnap women to fresh up their blood. Duh? It was totally unbelievable and so extremely far-fetched! Honestly, the whole concept of this story is beyond ridiculous and it's a contemporary romance, after all!
Unfortunately, there is no blurb at all here at Goodreads. Further, I have to say that I'm not a reader who's constantly reading reviews before starting to read a particular story. Maybe I shall do that in the future. But what happens when you can only read raving reviews? Anyway, it's done and I have to move on.

Why a deluded and quixotic heroine? I mean the so-called hero is treating her like a piece of meat. He even abused her physically and mentally, and what did the heroine do? Yeah, she says "He didn't hurt me. I trust him." WTF? That's being delusional. Another word: denial. I don't care at all that the hero got "warmer" throughout the story. Because. Honon continually misinterpreted anything he saw and didn't like. He just ran off when he was angry with Dani. He didn't want to listen what his people or Dani tried to tell him. They wanted to explain to him what really happened but he would never ever listen. Honon acted like a stupid, spoiled brat! Do you know the concept of asking questions, Honon? Clue in, you Neanderthal!! Jeez, I get all worked up again!! I know, I know, I have to calm down! Hold your horses, Baba! Deep breath…in…and…out. I felt that the writing was pretty tedious, too. I was not riveted by this story. Something else I did not like. After the hero "leaves" her again for the umpteenth time, she is cheating on him. Admittedly, there could have been worse stuff to happen than that. But she still loved him and

I was pulled behind Honon's horse. Luckily, the horse didn't walk as fast as Honon did, but I already had a couple of cuts on my feet so it still wasn't easy. BTW, her hands were bound!!

I didn't know what I was thinking, what made me think I could get away. He was on me before I went three steps, grabbing ahold of my pony tail while he still sat on the horse. "Owwww. No!" I would've fallen in a heap to the ground but he had such a tight hold on my hair. I was crying furiously. "Leave me alone. Lemme go. Please! Lemme go. Damn you!" You see…that's being delusional. He hurt her numerous times and she said he didn't.

The look on his face was amazing. I'd never had anyone look at me the way he did. I'd wanted a real man, one that didn't kiss me like he was apologizing, I'd wanted passion. I finally had it and didn't know what to do with it. This was all wrong!

Oh, hell yes, this was very wrong, Dani! You knew it but you acted like a stupid fool! I'd advise you to go check your brains!

I didn't even particularly like the sex scenes. They were not exceptionally well written either.

Frankly, I can't believe that this story has found a publisher! Oh, I am seriously annoyed, as in seriously!!!

I can't really recommend this book but you can give it a try. Maybe you'll love it. It was just not my cuppa.

Hot! What a book! I picked it up and never set it down. 5 hours later I was done and ready for the next one. Ok, anyone know when that is coming out? ANYONE?

Danielle is a character that I connected with immediately. I have been thru some of the same struggles she has (weight/men) and I wanted to smack that Doctor into next week for her. Honon was a little harder to warm up to, but I think that was how it was supposed to be. His intense feelings/jealousy and her confusing reactions made for an incredibly combustible relationship. Of course, he needed to be smacked too, a lot! It took very little time for me to become emotionally invested in this story. I felt like I knew her and I could not imagine having to make the decisions she had to, but you could actually feel her becoming stronger as the book goes on. She grows into herself. Honon on the other hand is still searching. He is strong physically but he has been burned and is not willing to trust anyone. To watch (read) these two fight is heart-wrenching and frustrating- you just want to give them a hug! (or a smack!)

Kudos to the author for doing her research on the Native American Indians in the story, the Miwoks. They are from the West Coast, but I don't think they actually have a secret tribe...Or do they? Maybe the author knows something we don't. lol! The way she has weaved the facts and fiction makes the story more complete and realistic. She even has an explanation as to how they haven't been exposed to the scrutiny of outsiders. Although it's a little farfetched that a tribe of indians could go without being found in the U.S. for so long, in the Amazon and Africa they are still finding villages and tribes that have never had contact with the outside world, EVER. The outside world, of course, quickly got to corrupting them(Amazon/African tribes) with all sorts of newfangled things they had never seen and therefore never knew that they needed or wanted! The Miwoks are aware what could happen and have certain plans in place for when they bring outsiders in. The author must have been planning this book for a long time. She left no unanswered questions that you or I would ask. At least the ones that would be essential to the story.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants an original romance with spice. This is by no means a cookie cutter novel. It is so much better than that. Enjoy!! Oh, and when is the next one? I am not a very patient person! :D

Happy Reading.

3 1/2 stars. It started of great but I lost interest once the main characters returned to civilization. The book reminds me of the movie Last of the Dogmen where a lost Native American Tribe is found but to protect them the passage to the civilized world is destroyed. I guess it was a reasonably good read. HEA ending.

This was not a bad book but there are a lot of issues. I loved the whole premises of the book. I was giving myself high fives when reading the synopsis. I liked the characters and honestly the situations were not perfect but I could understand the points of view. The village was great but it was too perfect. I just can't imagine everyone welcoming the strange woman with open arms. The only hostile person was another white captive? The men were all to good to be true. It was all too good! By the way if I ever get sick I want to go to this village where random hot guys take care of you. They feed you, carry you to your bath, bathe you, tell you stories, on call if you ever need help, etc.! You get the perfect village idea. Now for the bad. My spelling sucks. I will rarely complain about it in a review for this reason but it was awful. If I see it, it can't be good. There are lots of holes in the story or didn't ring true but remember perfect village?! There was some drama brought in but it felt forced or not real. Honon made dani walk behind his horse tied with no shoes. After everything he had done up to that point I was literally confused as to why he did this. Because of possible injuries she could sustain obviously this was not like him. When he dumped her in Meanies arms and left even though she fainted I again was left scratching my head. Dani was suppose to be afraid of the water but dives into river to escape? Dani travels to the village with a new born baby? She couldn't wait for first round of shots before taking it to no medicine land? She worked in the maternity ward but again drug a new born..few weeks old on horse back for days?! There were many things that went against character and that was the drama. I enjoyed the book but I won't be reading any more in the series.

I'm sorry about the spoilers!!
I'm really surprised about all the good reviews for this book. I mean the story could be excellent, but the author added things that were no necessary. First the book is this long because of all the details that are always good. Still I think an author should now when enough is enough. Second the attitude of the hero was annoying after a while one miss understanding is enough why the author used this over and over again? Then the heroine was acting like a smart and strong woman at times and then jumped to be weak and an idiot. Finally why the heroine has sex with the brother of the hero? All the problems that she had with the hero because he believed that she had sex with other guys. She uses her time and energy convincing him that she never would do such thing. All that troubles and she ends up having sex with the guy because he looks like his brother? As I said that's one of the times when she acted like a weak and idiot woman. Still the other guys and her friends look like great characters so I will keep reading the next book to see if this was just a mistake from the author.

The hero in this book was hard to like for more than 3/4 of the book...he was horrible to be honest! He did redeem himself though. Once the story towards the end became 'his story' then it was easier to understand his actions in fact I quite liked him by the end.

I enjoyed this book very much. Even when Honon was being a jealous jerk I never thought about putting it down and walking away from it. In fact I was still reading it at 2.30 in the morning on a work night...something I never do! If you can put up with some very bad behavior from the hero then I think it is well worth reading. I enjoyed it so much minutes after finishing it I downloaded book two. I will be starting that book tonight.

This story had real potential but the 2nd half was a total disappointment. The h spends most of the time away from the hero and there is a lot of focus on her everyday life which was so boring. Plus, after all the accusations of the h cheating she actually does cheat which does not make any sense and is never revealed to the H. The parts where the couple is reunited in modern society was so boring. They were so lovey dovey, it made my teeth hurt. I wanted the H to be more possessive jealous and obsessive but again I was disappointed. I was really looking foward to this book. Maybe the next one will be better.

I'd give this book 2.5 stars.

I really liked the premise of a Native American Indian community living in secret, kinda like a time traveller novel but not. I thought it was original and interesting with plenty of conflict opportunities.

However, the main reason I read romance novels is to fall in love with the hero and Honon behaved liked the ass Dani called him for most of the book. I couldn't fall for him. It got ridiculous the way he continually didn't trust Dani with so little evidence of her infidelity, and the stuff with Kusumi, what was that!

I don't think I'll be reading the next in the series.

spoilers.

who doesn´t want to be kidnaped by a hot dreamy man?

I so want to, and Honon is at the top of my list!!!

Dani fights him a lot but in the end well she can´t win to his sensual and hot good looks.
I hated when he didn´t believed in her love and that she never sleeped with other man and i hated when he didn´t believed the baby was his. He was a major jerk sometimes but very much in love with her.
I understood why he was acting that way.
the love scenes were... wow!! hot, hot, hot!!!
I loved this book!!!

I enjoyed this quite a bit. The idea that there's a hidden indian community from modern society reeled me in. I wish there would have been a bit more shell shock with the two indians in the big city though. The airplane ride gave the reader a taste of it but it would have been nice to see more. I'll probably get the follow-up because this was a good and quick read that was enjoyable.

I liked this book, but I didn't care for Honon's dialect. It was too stiff and often lacked emotion. Nice, easy read, though.
