Offering inspiring true stories of encounters with angels, narrow escapes, and supernatural guidance, a leading Christian author cites examples from his own life to show that angels really exist. (Religion & Inspiration).
Dr. Charles W. Shedd was an American Presbyterian minister and a master communicator of homespun wisdom. Dr. Shedd served as a Presbyterian minister for over 50 years. He was the shepherd of small country churches and big city cathedrals. Along the way, he walked alongside janitors, farmers, physicians, senators, and presidential cabinet members. "Pastor Shedd" never met a stranger, or left anyone who did not feel richer for being in this presence.
He authored over 40 books, wrote nationally syndicated columns, and was a favorite guest of numerous television and radio personalities.
Despite the book being a little dated, it was interesting. I have, much like the author, always been fascinated by angels. So I enjoyed his insights and stories about the works of these unseen actors in his life and the lives of others. He organizes his stories around themes - children, marriage/love, dreams, and so on. This was a lovely and inspirational book.
Quote to remember:
The most beautiful experience we can have is the mysterious. -Albert Einstein
I loved this book for the true stories of many folks who experienced the touch of an Angel's wing, whether through a sighting, a sign that someone that passed is paying a visit, and answer appears out of no where or just feeling a blessing or a healing. I have had similar experiences that touched my heart or saved me from a scary dangerous situation and I know without a doubt that I had an angel nearby.
To quote Elizabeth Sherrill of Guideposts magazine, "A down-to-earth book about the miraculous. As if he were pulling up a chair in your own kitchen, Charlie Shedd recounts experiences of supernatural guidance, hairbreadth escapes, and angelic protection. Showing angels to be very normal and everpresent bearers of God's love, he brings the 'far out' as close as every day's need."
He has 35 books as of 1994. I want to read more of his books, especially the biography, Remember I Love You: Martha's Story.
I especially liked the story, "Calico Hospice Lady," of the calico cat that sat by his wife's side during her final illness. It is taken from the biography.
