3.5 stars This one was cute. H's daughter wants a mommy and his dad happy so she stows away in h's truck which brings her into their orbit. She is stuck at their house in a snow-storm and they grow closer but their differing lives plus the hero's hang-ups with his past means they don't think they have a future beyond the physical. I liked this one, plus the daughter was cute.
Sweet, feel-good story about a widowed carpenter with a little girl who believes in angels. The heroine is subbing for her dad, the truck driver, to deliver his load while he's laid up with a broken leg. The little girl stows away in the truck, convinced the heroine is a literal angel, and when returning her to her dad, the heroine's truck slides off the road in the growing blizzard (of course). So we get a "snowed-in together at Christmas" story. The child is too compliant and angelic to be believed, without even whining to make her more real. Then again, I have no experience whatsoever with compliant children, as none of my three could be described this way. Still, this is beyond my ability to suspend disbelief. That's not the most of what takes my 5th star though. It's a really sweet story without much plot or conflict. Sometimes that's just what I want. This one isn't as plotless as I've encountered elsewhere. It was a nice, sweet, feel-good read. I enjoyed it.
Just FYI, this is a no smut book. I LOVED IT. I simply adore stories with children, add in a single dad and I SWOON. Meredith was simply adorable and I thought she was very well-written. Some authors have trouble writing children authentically but speaking as a big sister who has six younger siblings and innumerable younger friends and relatives...St. John was pretty spot-on. Highly recommend. This is a story that will give you the warm fuzzies.
For a book which is in the library since don't know when , this was a surprise also a welcoming one! Loved it ! The story , the five year old angel,Starla and of course my hero!!!! He was a beta hero but was just so , well the word would be gentle. For someone who needs a book for either travel or just is searching for some moderate romance , this is the one. A must read! A short but happening story and something to read for Christmas!
A very quick read that you know it's going to end before it begins - so you have to be okay with that. I loved that it wasn't all super sexual but you could feel the chemistry between Starla and Charlie. Very well done. The end was a little "rushed" for me after putting everything in place - hence it's a 4 of 5. Will read future books from Ms St John.
I love Cheryl St. John, she is an incredible author. This book was very good. Loved all the characters, especially Meredith, the little girl who believed in angels.
