This book focuses on the necessity of applying spiritual leadership, helping your wife, and fulfilling your role as protector, as well as preparing your children for a career, marriage, and citizenshi
A very good reminder of the biblical responsibilities that God desires of us fathers, especially those of us who homeschool. But beware! If biblical teaching and politically conservative truths offend you, you still should read this book but you may experience feelings of uneasiness and conviction as you're presented with universal truths from the only authoritative source of truth: the Bible.
It is a really short and easy read. It has a great Christian point of view. I like how he helped me to recognize things I need to start teaching our kids besides math and reading. He talks about how we need to teach our kids how to save, take care of a car, do the laundry, and have a love of the scriptures, know what their values are and why, the importance of citizenship and freedom. I like that it encouraged my husband to chip in and gave examples of how to help as well. Definitely worth reading.
If you know anything about Michael Farris, nothing in the book will surprise you. It is solidly conservative (perhaps leaning fundamentalist) Christian and political thought. I skimmed it to see if it might be helpful to my husband but can't say I would recommend it.
