This is the best book I have read this year. I thought it might just be a bit of a sloppy love story but I was snared by the context. A fascinating portrayal of events in China during this period as well as events in Hong Kong. The novel brought to life things that we heard spoken of in our time living in Hong Kong, such as the communist riots and the killer rains. I liked the run-on style and thoroughly enjoyed the portrait of colonial Hong Kong at such a turbulent time. Great read!
IF I AM NOT WRONG, I READ THIS BOOK ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO WHICH DEPICTS THE UNREST TIME OF HONG KONG AND HOW THE COLONIAL GOVERNMENT LED THE HONGKONGERS GET THROUGH THE HARD TIME IN 60'S. VERY INTERESTING AND YOU WILL BE RELUCTANT TO DROP THE BOOK DOWN AFTER HAVING STARTED READING
