Oh, man. I was so excited to read this. You have no idea. I've had it on my to-read list for almost a decade, and I was going to settle in and not come out for two days.
...AND THEN...
The author (also the prosecutor in the murder trial against Yolanda Saldivar (who murdered Tex-Mex singer Selena in 1995)) has written a good book. Somewhere. Amidst the run-on sentences, spelling errors, digressions, redundancies, and general poor writing of it all, there is a comprehensive and compelling trial story. At the beginning, he notes that he wanted to write the book entirely on his own so we, the readers, might get the whole story as he knew it. It's clear that he did so. I just really wish he'd hired an editor.
