Rate this book
When a gunshot wound puts him on six months medical leave, 44 yr old fraud investigator Morgan Reed spends two months alone and lonely in Las Vegas before deciding to spend the remaining four months in Sedona visiting his elderly father. The last thing Morgan expects to find there is that his 72 yr old father has become a local Lothario and is being scammed for money by one of the many females in his life. Though it pains Morgan to investigate the man who raised him, doing surveillance on Althea Carmichael gets even more complicated when Morgan discovers how badly he wants to believe the woman professing to be his father's friend is innocent in the matter. He knows that talking a fraud suspect and potential criminal into a having romantic relationship would definitely not be a good thing to do, even if it is the first time Morgan has ever been in love.

At 54, Althea Carmichael is seriously unhappy with her life. Her now decade long widowhood keeps her tethered to a restaurant business she still doesn't want, but can't give up because she has a sick mother-in-law in a nursing home financially dependent on her. Her life is a endless series of hectic work days trying to keep the failing business alive just a little bit longer. Then as if that wasn't enough problems, Morgan Reed comes along and says he wants to date her. Despite the fact that Thea doesn't want the complications of a relationship, Morgan talks his way into her bed. Now she is practically addicted to the man and he's leaving in a few months. His looming departure is difficult enough to handle, but nothing compares to discovering Morgan’s real agenda for getting close to her was because he believes she's been scamming money from his elderly father. Angry at herself as much as at him, Thea does the only sane thing she can and kicks the jaded, cynical man out of her life for good.

The relationship between Thea and Morgan was really cute.she a non dating widow of 10 years, and he a accident recuperating investigator temporarily crashing with his father. They had a few obstacles in their relationship which temporarily halted their courtship, but their love story was a solid one. Now Morgan's father reall stole the show. Who would have thought a 70 something year old man would have so much spunk with the ladies, and is still getting it in. He was a real charmer and quite funny with some of his terms such as widitity (a widow virgin). He had such a big heart and was a real positive light in the book. This was a good read especially for the 40-50 crowd.

I enjoyed this book very much. It had me laughing, crying, and really frustrated with the male character at times. Because he was being a real man. And I really liked the female characters strength. She had real Moxie.

Morgan Reed is on medical leave from his job as a fraud investigator when he decides to visit his elderly father and use his investigative skills to find out who is scamming his father out of several hundred dollars each month. He realized it was not going to be easy to figure out who the culprit was since his father is the local Lothario and has many women in his life. He narrows it down to a neighbor of his father's, 54 year old Althea Carmichael. He especially did not want to investigate her for fraud because he had started to have feelings for her and he knew she would never be attracted to him when she found out he suspected her of fraud.

I liked that the characters in The Right Thing were in their 40s and 50s rather than 20s like most romances. Thea was interesting in that she had been widowed for ten years and had rarely dated and not had sex in that time. She was a very kind and caring woman who tried to take care of anyone needing her. It was sad that she never took time for herself and put all her energy into running the restaurant that her husband had run. Since it was the only thing she had left of him she didn't want to let it go. When Morgan came to town he was so surprised to find his father with so many female admirers that he didn't know how to deal with it. Morgan didn't have time to date much and had never been in love so he envied his fathers comfort with women. I loved Morgan's father. He was a hoot! He spent time with several women daily, which at his age (any age!) was amazing. He added a lot of fun scenes to the story.

This was a well written story with very likable characters. If you want a fun tale with slightly older characters, I recommend this one.

'The Right Thing' is another fantastic little book from Donna McDonald. I had recently read all of the Never Too Late series and absolutely loved all of them, so I wanted to continue reading more of Donna's work. That's when I came across 'The Right Thing' - a short stand alone book.
The story may be short but it is jam packed full of great characters and story lines.

Morgan is not a character that I would normally warm to, at the beginning he seems slightly selfish (coming to stay with his father because he feels he has to rather than wants to - this is the impression I got) and somewhat distant and untrusting. He's a detective (fraud investigator) from Las Vegas and this definitely shows in his character from the first moment you meet him. Throughout the story there are strong ups and downs when it comes to my feelings about Morgan but he is a wonderful multi-faceted character and is brilliantly written.

Thea is a caring and feisty lady, but she's also very lonely after the death of her husband. She has put all of her energy into their restaurant and rarely has time for herself.

Throw into the mix an older gentleman with more stamina for love than a man a third of his age and we have a story filled with very different but complementary characters. It is a complex story filled with tales of love, guilt and suffering which is delicately and beautifully written.

I strongly recommend this book for anyone thinking about getting into Donna's work. You will see the way she brings her characters to life and you will not be able to put her books down.

Another Donna McDonald book that didn't disappoint. I love her writing style. The way she develops the characters in the stories, is effortless. She creates these characters that you connect with and end up rooting for them. Her books leave me feeling loved and wanting love. Can't get enough of her books.

Love Has No Bounds

This a delightful story about a man, wounded on the job, who discovers the true meaning of love. He is visiting his father in Sedona, Az. He meets a lot of his dad's friends and falls for a gal who runs an eatery that they frequent. Warning: There are twists and turns in this tale. Hang on for the ride, it's enjoyable!

This author writes it - I'm reading it, simple as that.

If someone had told me the storyline to this book I would have said it wasn't for me but there is just something about this author that just engages me right from the star of every book.

Sitting down with one of her books is like getting a big warm hug from a great friend.

Loved the characters, the humour, the romance - great stuff :)

Do the right thing. Always. Althea & Morgan both learn their lessons in love, forgiveness & a great kiss in this romance. A bit of hot sex moves the story right along, and the laughter at the snarky comments throughout the story will keep you on your toes.
