This was one of those books we bought through the elementary school I attended back in the late 60's early 70's. I don't remember exactly what year I bought it: 3rd? 4th? 5th? or 6th grade?
My favorite thing about this book is it came with a little magnet. By today's standards it wasn't a very powerful magnet, but it was the first one I ever owned and I found it magical.
For me this was the original "spooky action at a distance".
Perhaps it was what inspired me to eventually take all those Physics and Math classes in college?
In my childhood I don't have lots toys. so I took good care of my toys at that time. One of my favorite toy in my childhood is a giant U shape magnet! The first image come into my head when I saw this book is the little me who runs around and tries to making everything stick on the magnet. And it's just like the main character in this book. This book reminds me how curiosity I was. I love this book.
The book is talked about a magnet's magic and teach to children how to come up a sudden bright idea. The child in the book use his brainstorming and imagination to help himself picking up the pins that have droped down on the whole floor. If a kid tries to think, he or she can express his or her creation to make somthing happen.
Now this is a classic! I remember reading it as a kid. I love that I still have it to read to my kids. It does such a great job of introducing discovery without giving all the answers. I think it is a great example of how to experiment with things for yourself. Wish I still had the magnet that came with the book! We will have to find one around here somewhere...
This is such a cool book that introduces the reader to what a magnet is and what it picks up. I like how the story shows examples of stuff a magnet will and will not pick up. I think the students would be so interested in magnets after reading this book! I would keep this book in my library to introduce this science experiment.
Mickey's Magnet is slightly lame, but it's actually a pretty nice book. I love finding books that are lesser-known from well-known people. The illustrator of this is of course very well known but not for this book. This little non-fiction book apparently used to contain a magnet, but my used version didn't have that leftover. It presents the concept of magnets in an easy-to-understand way.
I read this book so many times as a child! I loved it and still do! I haven’t read this book in a few years but I think I might give it a reread. I defiantly think this is a children’s book that all children should be read sometimes in their life.
I used this book in a first grade classroom. It is about a little boy that discovers a lot of different items he is able to pick up with a magnet. I thought that it was a good book and got the children excited to learn about magnets!
This is another well-loved picture book from my childhood. I thought this was a really fun book, and especially liked the pictures of the pins spilled all ove rthe floor.
This was illustrated by the man who does Harold and the purple crayon, that was our initial draw. The story was very light and fun. A good read for a budding magnet fan.
This book has many useful ideas to teach children what a magnet is all about and how to use one. This book is awesome to use to spring from for a lesson on magnets.
