These book actually only handy if you dedicated yourself to spend time tramping on those country. So many places to tramp, so little time.

I looked on it because it has great collection of details tramp in Great Walks of Milford Track. Indeed you might don't need it if you are experienced tramping.

Inside the basic information about how to tramp and addition about weather and geographical of New Zealand both islands were really help. Specially if you first timer tramping in those sub alpine situation.

As always, Lonely Planet seeks to inform vast coverage of the many various hiking, also known as tramping, trails one can do in New Zealand's North and South islands.
Conveniently split into different areas of New Zealand's islands, Tramping in New Zealand provides all the information for the first time tramper from instructions on getting to the tramp to a handy day-by-day guide of the tramping route itself.

Of course, with the wide array of routes to choose from, it doesn't make your decision any easier!
