Are you living the life of your dreams? Or are you simply playing it safe?
Single dad Nick Malone is successfully juggling his roles as devoted father and traveling musician—until his young son’s unexpected request to join him on tour threatens to topple their carefully constructed world. Now Nick must find a tutor-slash-nanny who can watch his son and keep up with the demands of touring with the band. Seems like finding a unicorn at the local pet shop might be more realistic.
Former teacher Ivy Winston is floundering. Everyone thinks she’s a driven and organized woman with a crystal-clear plan for her future, but it’s all an illusion. Her latest— and final —degree was supposed to silence her doubts, but she’s more unfulfilled and confused than ever. So when a tutoring opportunity arises, Ivy jumps on the chance to escape her life for a little while, hoping the break will help her figure out why her perfect plan feels so wrong.
As the tour bus journeys on, Nick and Ivy reluctantly realize that what started as a simple arrangement to help a little boy has changed into something far more complex. But can Nick move on from the painful memories of his past? Can Ivy confront her own doubts and fears to imagine a new future for herself?
Can they agree that love is the best reason of all for a change of plans?

This was cute! I love single Dad and found family tropes. It took me a bit to get into it but once I was a few chapters in it was really good. Henry, Nick's child, was absolutely adorable! One of my favorite things was how supportive Nick and Ivy were of each other. You really could feel the connection between them and their understanding of being left behind before. 2
This is the 4th book in the series and I went into this not reading any of the ones before. I was still able to read this with no problem. Thank you to BookSirens for the ARC!
"I know it's fast, Ivy, but somewhere between Indianapolis and Toronto, I think I fell in love with you."
-single dad, close proximity, found family -Nick needs to find a tutor/nanny for his son while they go on tour 🚐 🎸🎤🎵 -Nick and Ivy’s relationship developed so naturally and the book flowed well -Ivy’s vulnerability and need for stability was totally relatable too -great side characters who were so supportive -Henry was the greatest wing man for his dad and Ivy 🤭 -thank you to NetGalley and Xpresso Book Tours for this ARC

I'd say about 80% of the entire story resolves around the kid, so be warned you won't get drowned in steamy romance. Drizzled at best.
They really are too chaste and polite, the story seems more focused on the kid than on the tension or romance aspect.
Saying someone is sexy isn't enough, you have to tell us HOW, what makes him attractive?? what physical aspects is she seeing that creates an effect on her?? because right now she's just getting all hot and bothered by his thigh brushing hers and his smile and that's it, she rarely mentions the height or the muscles or the jaw or I don't know the stuff you typically get in romance books that keep the image fresh in your mind of how that boy looks. just an example, in the Spanish Love Deception, though a bit overdone, you couldn't go 4 pages without Lina mentioning Aaron's long something, long legs, long fingers, him towering over her, etc. That's the thing that made him attractive to her so we were constantly reminded of that, with Nick I could just picture a burly lumberjack like the one in the Simpsons Marge fantasizes about.
All we read about is the tour, the band, the lessons, the kid, their pasts, their projects and dreams, and if we're lucky we get a couple of lines about his blue eyes and lumberjack appearance. Maybe the goal was to make a wholesome cozy slow adult romance like the books my mom reads with a doctor finding a baby on his doorstep and marrying the teacher across the road, and not a romcom as the cover led me to believe.
Also, unforgivable and blatant use of Google translate with 0 French speaking person called in to proofread : MC says "Tu es magnifique, comme toujours" to which one replies "Comme tu le fais, ma chérie". In no universe ever is this dialogue not high on drugs. There were so many ways to avoid this
Nick is a single Dad to 8 year old Henry. A member of the successful Storyhill acapella group, he is preparing to go on tour when Henry demands to accompany him. Ivy is a doctoral candidate. She's experiencing writer's block with her dissertation and questioning her next steps professionally. A mutual friend proposes a solution - Ivy can join the tour as Henry's nanny and tutor. She will experience a needed change of scenery and Nick will feel confident that Henry is cared for when he's performing.
As Nick, Ivy and Henry travel together on tour, this becomes a very sweet road trip romance. Ivy is schooling Henry and it's fun to learn different facts about each city and to see the sights with this trio. Traveling on a bus together for 3 weeks makes for lots of close proximity and a very intense getting to know you experience.
All 3 characters are extremely likeable. Henry is an especially adorable 3rd grader. Nick and Ivy have each experienced the pain of being left behind and are hesitant about making themselves vulnerable to relationships again. I really liked how Nick and Ivy supported each other. Nick helps Ivy to acknowledge her dreams and Ivy helps Nick to let go of some of his guilt.
While this is the 4th book in this series, it was the first that I read and it definitely works as a standalone. Characters from the previous books appear in the background, but it's easy to follow.
This is a page turner. I couldn't put it down and finished it in less than a day.
My only criticism - this is a nit - was that I thought that Ivy's experience jobhunting in the top tier of academia was unrealistic.
Thanks to the author and Booksirens for an advance copy. This is an honest review.
The first time I found this talented storyteller was with Bridget and Blake's story in Off the Record and loved it. When I saw another romance in the Storyhill family and it was a single dad and nanny romance, I couldn’t get my hands on it fast enough!
It's time for the a capella group, Storyhill, to go on tour, and Nate Malone's eight-year-old son, Henry, begs to go with them. Henry has never batted an eye when his father went on tour before, but he's refusing to stay with his grandparents and adamant about accompanying his father.
That brings us to Ivy Winston, a former teacher and PhD candidate, at least once she completes her thesis. Ivy has the training to tutor Henry and the time to spend on a tour bus since she can work on her thesis during the times Henry is with his dad. She and Henry get along famously, but the mutual attraction with his father is a little too much distraction.
I love everything about this one! The found family of the guys of Storyhill and their gals, and the dynamics between Nate and Ivy. Nate has some fear to overcome from the way his marriage ended, and Henry has his own heartbreaking insecurities. And the restlessness Ivy feels that leads her from one degree to the next is finally settled when she understands it's really her need to belong and feel a part of something. Charming, funny, poignant, and heartfelt, this wonderful romance is sure to please readers of all kind!
Pieces and Parts by Annmarie Boyle is forced proximity, working relationship romance where a PhD candidate, Ivy Winston, becomes the nanny for single dad & touring singer, Nick Malone. Nick’s 8 year old son Henry was a highlight of the book. I enjoyed when this trio was together. They were an adorable & entertaining little crew. Nick was also a phenomenal dad & I loved that they were all such nerds. I’m all for nerdy leads. This book #4 in The Storyhill Musicians series, but this is the first one I’ve read & I followed along alright. Obviously, if you do read it like me, you’ll will experience minor spoilers about the other band mates’ lives, but I thought that was fine. Perhaps it was because I hadn’t read the rest of the series, I did feel a bit of a disconnect. I never quite got fully immersed into this story. The parts with Henry were my favorite but I didn’t connect as much with the romantic couple of Nick & Ivy. This was a cute & quick novel, which I sure others will love!
If you are a fan of this series, I think this will be an excellent recommendation for you!
Massive thanks to NetGalley & Dahlia Media for the gifted arc, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.
This was my favourite of the Storyhill Musicians series, and that's saying something since I've enjoyed them all. In the fourth and final installment in the series, Annmarie Boyle brings us the story of hunky single father Nick, whose life has revolved around his 8-year-old son Henry and the band for as long as he can remember. He tends to put everyone first but himself. When Henry is adamant about joining them on their next tour, despite usually enjoying staying with his grandparents, Nick feels he has no choice but to adapt. What's going on with his son? He needs help finding out. Into his life comes Ivy, a former teacher doing her Ph.D. who's figuring out what she wants next in her life. Having grown up as the daughter of diplomats, moving from one country to another, she craves stability, but she can handle 3 weeks on the road taking care of Henry and acting as his tutor. What she's not sure she can handle is the chemistry between her and Nick, and whether there's a future for her with someone who lives his life on the road, and Nick is scared of another failed relationship.
I love the banter between these two, and their highly competitive nerdy games of trivia. Boyle does a great job of understanding her characters' motivations, including their fears and dreams, and bringing them to life. She is an intelligent and quality romance author. I look forward to her next book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I just finished up an early read of Pieces and Parts - the final installment in the Storyhill series from Annmarie Boyle. I *could not* wait for Nick's book after getting sneak peeks at the hunky single dad in previous books, and he did not disappoint.
Check this one out if you love: - Single dad - Forced proximity - Road trip/tour - Nanny romance - Musician romance
When I was a kid, I used to tell everyone who asked what I wanted to be when I grew up that I always wanted to be a student. So believe me when I say that I related to Ivy big time. She’s finishing up a PhD program and trying to figure out what comes next for her when her best friend suggests she join the Storyhill group on the road as a nanny and tutor for their baritone’s 9 year old son. After immediately clicking with Nick and Henry, Ivy agrees and they’re all off on an international tour spending a lot of time on that small tour bus!
I absolutely loved how gone Nick and Ivy are for each other right from the beginning. They fluster each other so much and it just made me swoon watching the chemistry build. Their mutual love of trivia is also adorable. This is the last book in the Storyhill universe and Annmarie ties up the storylines so well. I’ll miss spending time with these guys!
I voluntarily read a gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Pieces and parts is the last book in the Storyhill series and it delivered everything I hoped it would. This series is such a sweet, breath of fresh air and this books capped it off perfectly.
Pieces and Parts centers on single dad Nick and friend of a friend Ivy who agrees to help Nick with tutoring and childcare for his 8yo son on a east-coast tour for his band.
The characters are well developed, the story flows well with themes and drama that are introduced in fresh ways and doesn’t just feel like redundancy in each chapter. The author Annmarie found the perfect voice for the young son. As a mom of an 8 going on 30 year old, the tone and dialogue was perfect and realistic.
The banter and dynamics are great and while this isn’t the spiciest book, it has a little heat.
This is such a special book in a wonderful series, I recommend it to romance readers who love angst, a bit of will they/won’t they and honest, real dialogue.
"It's about the way we fit together- almost as if someone specifically designed our pieces and parts to lock together."
📖 Pieces and parts, Annmarie Boyle
Storyhill musicians series comes to an end with the last story of musician Nick, who plans to go on groups tour- but his son Henry wants to go along! Luckily he finds suitable person to watch and teach him- Jessica's friend Ivy! Henry falls in love with her, and so does Nick- and rest of the gang- but! Ivy seeks stability and security- and musicians on tour can't provide this... Or?
I loved this book, it was slow-paced and sweet- it might become my second favourite (no. 1 is still Avery-Matt). I loved to read about previous characters (yaay for including Curtis and Megan too!) and it was perfect ending for this series.
I received ARC copy from author. All opinions are my own.
Pieces and Parts by Annmarie Boyle is a good, and enjoyable forced proximity single dad music romantic comedy read. The story has a great entertaining world building engaging story line. The characters are great, and they have great chemistry. This story is a very entertaining page turning romance read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Super cute romance with some spicy bits. Great character dialogue, and subject matter. Being vulnerable is hard but the payoff can be worth it. Love the whole “family” dynamic. A fast read but is very well developed.
This is a sweet, funny, warm and fluffy contemporary romance about a single dad and traveling musician and the woman he hires to teach and care for his 8 year old son that wants to go on tour with him. This is book four of a series but can be read as a stand alone. I haven't read any of the previous books but found enough background in the story to not feel lost. That said, I enjoyed this book so much I'll be going back and reading the first three.
Nick has been a single dad to his son Henry for the past 5 years and the Dad-guilt is strong, particularly when he goes on the road with his band. Normally Henry stays with Nick's parents while he's on tour, but this time Henry insists on going with Nick. Unable to get Henry to explain, but realizing his son is in serious distress, Nick is at a loss about what to do until a bandmate's wife suggests Ivy, a long-time friend who is working on her PHd dissertation.
Ivy grew up with diplomat parents, moving from country to country every few years, never making any long-term friends or staying anywhere long. She worked as an elementary school teacher for 8 years but now, in her mid-30's, is working on her doctorate. Unfortunately, she has a serious case of writer's block. For as long as she's known, all she's ever wanted was to buy a house and plant roots. So why can't she finally finish her degree and start? Ivy decides that a three week distraction caring for Henry on the road is just what she needs to break through her block. What she didn't count on was Henry's hot dad, Nick.
I loved Nick's relationship with Henry. It was sweet to see his devotion to Henry and how he was able to follow his dreams while still meeting Henry's emotional needs. Henry is an old soul and, as is often with kids in books, way more mature than his years. But, I can forgive it because he was so cute.
I really enjoyed seeing Nick and Ivy's relationship develop. It was sweet to see two mature adults with a bit of baggage be kind, respectful and flirty with each other. They built a solid friendship and slowly began to trust each other. The feelings grew from there and even though the author threw in the mandatory third act break up, at least it didn't drag on too long before the inevitable happily ever after. If you're looking for a sweet contemporary romcom to lose yourself in for a few hours, definitely pick up this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Kate Rock Book Tours and the author. All opinions are my own.
I received this book as an ARC from Xpresso Book Tours through NetGalley and this review is based on my own opinion.
Nick is a single father playing in the acapella group Storyhill, they are about to go on tour when his 8 year old son Henry demands to join them on the road instead of going to his grandparents.
Ivy is a former teacher who's currently struggling to finish her dissertation.
Nick needs a teacher/nanny to join him and Henry on tour, so a mutual friend connects them with Ivy, who could use a different environment to help her write her thesis. Since she can write from anywhere, and has experience with teaching children it seems like the perfect job for her.
But along the road they find that the both of them are not only there to be with Henry, but that they also enjoy eachothers company.
The story made me immediatly fall in love with Henry and the other characters. The dynamic between Nick and Ivy is to die for and the bond between Nick and the rest of the group feels like walking into a very welcoming family, it's heartwarming to read how they all want to try and help Nick and Henry make it work.
Even though the book is part of the Storyhill Musicians timeline and other members of the group are mentioned, you can easily read it as a standalone book. Reading 'Pieces and Parts' made me excited to read the other books in the Storyhill Musicians timeline someday in the future.
This was my absolute favourite line in the book: 'I know it's fast, Ivy, but somewhere between Indianapolis and Toronto, I think I fell in love with you.'
Thank you to @annmarieboyle and @netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Ivy is working on her dissertation and trying to establish roots after a transient child of foreign diplomats. Nick is a single dad musician who is frequently on tour and now needs a nanny for his son on tour. Ivy takes the job hoping to figure out where her life is headed and finds so much more, but Nick comes as a 2 for 1 and both of them are scared of taking the leap of commitment. Can they figure out how to make this unconventional romance work?
This was a sweet romance that would make a perfect beach read!
Nick and Ivy are so relatable, and it was easy to fall in love with them both. As a single dad Nick is exactly what any woman would want in a father for her children- playful and fun but still providing boundaries in a loving environment. And Ivy is so patient and giving of herself. Add in Henry, the loveable 9-year-old with an old soul, and you have the foundation for a sweet and adventurous story.
The way that Nick encourages Ivy to follow her dreams is heartwarming, and her revelation at the end is perfect.
I also love the idea of found family in the form of bandmates and their wives. It adds an element to the story that is fresh and guides Ivy's self discovery perfectly. It's also quite sweet how this group of musicians take care of their own. adding a 9-year-old character into the mix adds humor and fun.
This is a somewhat formulaic romance (if that bothers you) but that isn't really a problem for me. Although I do like a little more spice in my romance, overall it's a feel-good read with a happy ending that is just what I needed this summer!
Pieces and Parts is the fourth book in an interconnected series about the musicians of the fictional group Storyhill. This book follows single dad, Nick as he searches for an unicorn; someone who can tutor his young son and watch him while out on tour with the band something he hasn’t done before. When Nick meets Ivy, a former teacher working on her PhD, he wonders if he can keep his growing attraction for her at bay. Ivy knows she’s there to be taking care of young Henry but she can’t help but find herself growing close to Nick as well. A lot can happen when you’re stuck on a tour bus in close quarters and becomes hard to keep your heart in check when it’s been locked away for so long.
Nick was completely in awe of Ivy from the get go and seeing her with his son really cracked his heart wide open even when it scared him. Ivy was a goner for Nick and Henry and she finally found a home with them. They make and adorable trivia buff family. I also love how supportive the band is they truly are a family and I need to go back and read the first three books in the series. This was a super fast and enjoyable read for any single dad romance fans.
Thank you @katerockbooktours and @netgalley for this eARC and a spot on the book tour.
Single dad Nick Malone is successfully juggling his roles as devoted father and traveling musician—until his young son’s unexpected request to join him on tour threatens to topple their carefully constructed world.
I've always loved how the other guys love Nick and to finally get to read his story ❤️ This book was about Nick's love story as we have seen from Andrew to Blake. It was finally Nick's turn and we got a new character in Ivy which we all love (yes, I'm speaking for all readers) - it can be read as a standalone.
I was sad when I got to the last page. I love Henry so understandable. I flew by the pages so fast and had to pace myself cause I realized I'm gonna miss my boys.
I'd recommend this for the summer. Lighthearted. You'll smile and you'll fall in love We need this in a miniseries next maybe of all the Storyhill boys and their sexiness.
Or maybe a book about Joe's love story and how he met the powerhouse that is Julia.
I was given this book by Annmarie as part of the ARC squad.
When Acapella group Storyhill are due to embark on a lengthy tour, Henry, 8 year old son of single parent, and Baritone Nick Malone, refuses to stay with his grandparents as he usually does when his Dad is touring, and insists that he go on tour with the group.
He seems to be very upset at the thought of his Dad being away from him, but Nick can’t work out why.
Nick reluctantly agrees to meet a former teacher, Ivy, who is currently working on her dissertation for her PHD but getting nowhere fast, with a view to her joining the tour to look after Henry when Nick is working, and to make sure he keeps up with his schoolwork.
Ivy takes the job, and she, Henry and Nick get on very well,
Both Nick & Ivy have their own reasons for keeping things professional, but eventually the barriers start to come down, and they become close.
But it’s not all plain sailing, and at the end of the tour, Nick walks away from a potential relationship with Ivy, without fully explaining himself.
As expected, the Storyhill members rallied around Nick, and gave him good advice, which he wasn’t always ready to take, but could either Nick or Ivy work out how to overcome their reservations and find their happy ever after?
I really enjoyed this book, as I have the three earlier ones in the series. I loved the descriptions of the various places they visited, and I especially liked the dynamic between Nick, Henry & Ivy, and was quite moved when the reason Henry wanted to go on tour with his Dad was revealed.
I received an advance review copy for free, and am leaving this honest review voluntarily.
In this final instalment of the series Nick, who is the backbone of the group in many ways, finally gets his story. And with Nick comes Henry, his eight-year-old son who is one of the best-depicted children I've read in a long time. The way Nick and Ivy's relationship develops while looking after Henry on tour is realistically and sympathetically done, as two people with their own very good reasons for guarding their hearts grapple with their attraction to one another. There's no manufactured drama or convoluted misunderstandings, but there is plenty of input (wanted or not) from the other members of the group, and the whole story plays out beautifully. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the series as a whole and this is a lovely way to finish it.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance review copy. All opinions are my own.
This is the fourth book in series of The Storyhill Musicians but it can easily be read as a stand-alone.
Nick is a single dad who is about to go on tour with his accapella-band Storyhill. This time his son Henry insists on coming along thus Nick is desperate for a tutor/nanny to make that possible. Luckily tour-manager Julia has a friend that fits the bill: Ivy. And thus the story begins…
This was the first book in the series that I've read and I liked it very much. The characters were likeable and the plot was fast-paced and believable. I will definitely read the other books in the series and find out how the other band-members found their HEA.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
'Pieces and Parts' follows the journey of Nick, a single dad facing a unique challenge as his son, Henry, wants to join him and his a capella group on tour. To handle the situation, Nick enlists Ivy, a perpetual student dealing with a writing block, to tutor and care for Henry during the three-week tour. The book skillfully captures the struggles of parenting while navigating the dating world, touching on the desire for personal recognition beyond just being a parent.
In this endearing, fast-paced romance, Ann Marie Boyle crafts a heartwarming dynamic between Ivy and Nick as they cautiously flirt and manage their sizzling chemistry on tour. Both characters are excellent with Henry, and they discuss boundaries to ensure his well-being if their relationship takes a turn. The story's depiction of Nick's unwavering dedication to his son and music brings a refreshing element to the narrative. 'Pieces and Parts' is a delightful escape into a world of love, music, and family dynamics, appealing to readers who enjoy emotionally open and brawny heroes. Special thanks to NetGalley and Ann Marie Boyle for the opportunity to read an advanced copy, with all thoughts and opinions being my own.
It will melt your heart: What a satisfying end to what has been an awesome series. It was wonderful to finally get Nick's story and wow, was it a super satisfying one. Although there are interconnecting characters, it is not necessary to read the other books in the series first, although I'd recommend them to you as they are all fabulous. Nick and Ivy made a wonderful couple and 8 year old Henry was a blast. I liked watching these two finally give in and realise that they were indeed worthy of love and each other. The struggles that they faced seemed authentic and I enjoyed seeing their personal growth. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.
Obrigada, Annmarie.
5⭐️ 5♥️ e um 🔥 delícia demais
Recomendo a série toda, mas meus livros favoritos são o primeiro, Love Me Like a Love Song, e essa história do Nick.
I really had fun reading this one! I picked up the first in the series before diving into my ARC copy of book four (which I’ve had for a while, the first one, Love Me Like a Love Song), and I’m truly grateful for the background I picked up by doing this. I’m sure it would have read fine as a standalone, but there are so many side characters that I at least had some knowledge of most of them from the earlier book. It was very helpful, plus a lot of plot was setup back then.
Getting single dad Nick’s story and how he came to be who he is, how he is, and the way he is in the band was just so enlightening. His personality with his son Henry compared with his Storyhill band mates, compared with Henry’s new touring tutor and nanny Ivy - so well written! I enjoyed the whole story! How supportive everyone is to ensure Nick can stay in Storyhill when he becomes sole guardian of a 5 year old after his divorce, how his parents live far but stay involved, and how Henry is only 8 but so smart and intuitive and intelligent. Everyone in this story has great chemistry - not just Nick and Ivy! Also, how great Ivy is with Henry, his tutoring and figuring out what it is that has him spooked.
A definite recommendation from me - and I’ll be going back to read the middle books in the series for the stories I missed!
I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Dahlia Media, and this is my honest feedback.
