Rolling with the 6.57 Crew: The True Story of Pompey's Legendary Football Fans

Portsmouth's 6.57 Crew was the most talked-about casual football firm of the eighties and nineties. Never out of the headlines, this notorious gang took their name from the time of the train they caught to away games, following their team fanatically around the country with the kind of dedication only a football fan knows. Here, the crew reveals its story. Author Cass Pennant gains access to the main face of the crew and tells all-the intense rivalry between Portsmouth and neighbors Southampton, the violence on and off the terraces, and the comradeship between crew members.

This book is full of hypocrisy and jealousy. Note to author: Henry V army that fought and won at Agincourt and goes down as Englands most stunning land victory ever was actually launched from Southampton. I know this must break your heart sorry.

Whist not particularly well written, this book gives, for me, a fascinating insight into the world of 70s and 80s football violence. The interviews with some of the key characters of the era are incredible, hearing about how it was as much about the clothes as the violence. Disturbing, brutal, honest, funny - you get you money's worth!
