A decently interesting read, all about the different characters in X-men. My 5 yr old son and I really enjoyed reading this. It was his level 2 read to me for the day and he did well. Only a few bigger words, but like a good level 2 book, they replicate these words, so by the end of the book, the reader usually has them down. I am a comic book collector, so this one was fun for me. My son made me try to use Professor X's powers to get him to do his chores, and it worked, slightly. I told him I try it everyday and it usually doesn't work. :) Overall, a good solid level 2.
This is a great level 2 reading book for those that can read or even for those that are still learning to read. In this story we get to meet the different kind of X-men that have been created. Honestly I didn't know some of these characters so I thought it was impressive that there were "new" ones that we do not see on the movies or on the cartoon shows. K enjoyed seeing the different X-men and said he hoped to one day have metal come out of his hands like Wolverine. I think my favorite character was Storm, and I loved the description of what she did in Kenya to help the farmers. This is book of facts of the X-men so please don't expect a story or anything.
Oh boy, so now I know who the X-Men are and where they come from! My five year old read this to me. He enjoyed it quite a bit and took, I believe, a lot of information away from it. I found it to be rather a tedious and incoherent read, but I'm not the target audience. By design it's anecdotal, listing the different characters and what their story and special powers are. The vocabulary and proper names are slightly challenging at times, good exercise in sounding out long words. These DK readers are great for keeping our little emerging readers motivated ...
Meet the X-Men by Clare Hibbert early reader about superheroes a large open reader book with simple sentences for early readers about the characters and figures in the x men universe
This book of fake "factoids" describe the beloved X-Men and their amazing powers. With proper teaching to kids, kids can know that, tho' no mutant powers exist, there's an X-men in all of us.
