In an attempt to get as far away as possible from her dysfunctional family in Florida, Rayne Holmes finds herself in Boston barely making ends meet by busking in South Station. Her husky voice catches the attention of a beautiful barista named Juniper, and Rayne quickly realizes she would do anything to get to know her. What she didn't know, is that this desire would force her to cross paths with Boston's most notorious gang, the Fire Jackals. Juniper will stop at nothing to find the truth, and Rayne would never forgive herself if Juniper got hurt in the process. Will Juniper's quest for the truth tear their lives apart or forge an unbreakable bond between them?
I'm going to give it five stars. Not because I've read it and loved it. No. I'm giving it five stars because I can't find it anywhere so the fact that the only thing that caught me about this book it's the little prologue and the cover says a lot.
If I ever read it, though, I am coming back with a true and honest review. Thank u very much
i first heard about this book in march of 2023. at the time i couldn’t find it anywhere and it annoyed me to no end because i was desperate to read it.
flash forward to september 2024 and i noticed that it had been added to KU and my prayers had finally been answered.
it took me another month to get round to reading it but boy did this book not disappoint. the relationship between the two main characters is exquisite and divine, and a litany of other intense positive adjectives.
after i first read this book i needed time to collate my thoughts but i don’t think that will ever happen about this book. every time i think about it my thoughts spiral out of control because i am so obsessed with it. i say quite often that a good book makes me nauseous and let me tell you this book had me nauseous. it had me screaming and crying and throwing up.
this book makes me want to have my memory wiped purely so i can read this book again for the first time and experience it all again.
Blue Streets and Avenues is an exciting and emotionally charged read that perfectly balances danger and thrills with a heartfelt romance. The story is packed with suspense, making it hard to put down.
Rayne and Juniper are vividly brought to life, and their relationship grows amid the danger they face, with a tasteful bit of spice sprinkled on top. Their search for justice throws them into risky situations, putting both their bravery and their relationship to the test. The chemistry between them adds depth to their journey, making it even more engaging.
The blending of the intensity of the plot with the tender moments between Rayne and Juniper was done incredibly well. The book explores themes of love, trust, and the lengths people will go to protect those they care about, all while maintaining a gripping storyline.
Now to figure out what to do with my life while I wait for the sequel...
If you're looking for a book that warms your heart and makes you feel like you're wrapped up in blankets on a cold winter day, you've found it. this book is full of sweet and cute moments and if you are like me and have a thing for physical contact, especially hugs from behind 😉, you will love this book. if all this wasn't enough there's also a dash of spice 🌶️ and independent research to find the truth. Can't wait for book 2 (and trust me you'll be in my same situation once you finish this )
I loooved Blue Street and Avenue’s by A. Claire. From the very first page, I was captivated by Rayne🎸, a talented busker with an even bigger heart. A. Claire skilfully draws readers into the world of Rayne and Juniper, painting a vivid picture of their lives. What starts as a sweet love story quickly evolves into a gripping narrative filled with unexpected plot twists and villainous fire jackals. Rayne and Juniper are endearing, and their chemistry is e-l-e-c-t-r-i-c⚡. If you’re a fan of a lil’ spice, you’ll LOVE this🌶️. Blue Street and Avenue is a perfect blend of mystery, romance, and heartwarming moments that kept me hooked from start to finish. Can't wait for the second book!
Thank you A. Claire for giving me access to a digital copy!
I started this book thinking it would be about 70% romance with maybe 30% crime and gang elements, but it turned out to be a pretty even mix. That’s on me. I should have expected it, given that it’s inspired by Fallout (the video game). Once I learned that, a lot made sense. Maybe I should have looked into Fallout before reading, but at the same time, I didn’t want to spoil myself.
That inspiration gives the book a unique tone and writing style that I think crime fiction lovers and Fallout fans might enjoy more than I did. Not that I don’t love a good thriller now and then, but lately, I’ve been avoiding the extra-realistic ones, you know? That being said, the whole rabbit hole from "I want to do something good for the people I love" to "how the heck did I end up here" is very well-portrayed and realistic.
Personally, I think this story would have worked better in a dystopian setting than in a realistic one. Certain details (probably drawn from Fallout) don’t work that way in real life. But that’s just my fact-obsessed brain doing what it does best: being annoying, even to myself. In any case, it’s exciting to know the author is working on something set in a dystopian world. Oops! did I talk too much? Ah well, the dangers of yapping. Don’t tell A. Claire.
One of the best things about this book is that Rayne and Jun behave exactly as they should: like twenty-something young women thrown into unpredictable, harsh circumstances. It’s refreshing to see New Adult characters actually acting their age instead of teens written like adults or adults acting like teenagers.
And their love story? Pure fluff & smut. Yes, I’m using AO3 tags. No, I don't regret it. Their romance is passionate, intense, and packed with moments that made me want to squish their cheeks and protect them from the world. With the author’s permission, they are my daughters now ☺️
This book has such a sweet, heartfelt romance at its core. Really, these two are so cute they had me giggling like a schoolgirl and kicking my feet in the air. I just want to wrap them in a blanket and make them tea. Their dynamic felt real and tender, and their moments together were full of warmth. Sure, there’s also drama and some tropes I don’t exactly vibe with, but given that I’m an entire generation older than them and still dramatic… well, you can imagine how I was at 22.
Who would enjoy this book? If you love emotionally intense romance with high stakes, crime fiction with a character-driven focus, or stories with a Fallout inspired edge, this might be for you. It’s perfect for readers who enjoy New Adult protagonists behaving their age, passionate relationships, and a mix of fluff, smut, and drama
‘Blue Streets and Avenues’ really got me hooked in from the very beginning but I thought it was going to be a sweet, sapphic romance and it was but so much more. It became almost a dark thriller with a romance entwined all set in Boston. Rayne is a busker with a sincere vulnerability but also an unmatched drive to succeed on her own, it isn’t til she meets Juniper that she begins to see that she doesn’t always have to do it all alone. The chemistry between the two characters starts off very cute and develops rapidly into something very hot. The story itself centers on the two young women getting close to a dangerous gang called the Fire Jackals and Juniper’s need to find answers. It is almost like the story has already been set into motion and Rayne is our way in and is witnessing it all unfold as we do. I think Rayne is an incredible MC and the way Claire has developed her through the book is really beautifully done, it feels so much more than just a sapphic romance and I love how the narrative style just pulls you from the offset. Really loved this one and cannot wait to see more from this writer.
This was such a great tale of action and adventure, with a beautiful sapphic romance plot line. I was lucky enough to be sent this by the author & genuinely couldn’t put it down. A. Claire is currently working on book 2 & I am soooo invested to see what will come next.
This book looks like a cute sapphic romcom about a singer and her girlfriend, right? WRONG. This book is SO much more than that. It is honest, raw, emotionally moving, page-gripping, plot-twisting amazingness.
A. Claire does a wonderful job sucking you in from the first page with the wonderful, handsome character Rayne, who is a busker trying to make ends meet. You get to know how she uses her wonderful voice to make money just so she can continue to afford to live her run-down apartment in Boston so she can prove that she can make it on her own, thank you very much. While busking, she meets the beautiful emerald eyed Juniper, and they hit it off immediately. Juniper has her own worries going on, which is soon revealed, and we get into the main part of the book where things hit the g0dd@mn fan.
This book is like Nancy Drew and Riverdale, all rolled up into one beautifully written book. I loved it. This book is sp*cy. It's the edge of your seat gripping, it is everything.
You’ll end up wanting to protect Rayne and wanting to marry Juniper. I loved the side characters, even Arty, but especially Nat. ❤️🩹
I honestly can't wait for the second book. Thank you to A. Claire for a copy of the eArc. I leave this review voluntarily
