Deep democracy, the inherent importance of all parts of ourselves and all viewpoints in the world around us, is introduced as the concept that fascilitates conflicts in relationships, communities, and the world. Skills and attitudes needed in situations of chaos, attack, transformation and conflict are provided, and examples from all over the world illustrate the theory.
I obtained this book in 2006 and am so grateful to continue to own it. I will write a detailed summary of how these principles apply to my own personal and continued 'professional' skills and abilities.
I was cleaning out the garage and found this book. It was for a class I took at the U of U, for graduate social work credit. I liked the book well enough, but what I remember is the teacher, an older gentleman who was always trying to convince us to go with him to his sweat lodge and sweat with him (naked, of course).
Reading both sitting in the Fire and Leader As Martial Artist and I don't know if it's worth it to read both at the same time. They seem very related although I think Leader is more of a "How To" book.
