I think a sibling used this to study for school history exams but I read it to find out about a period of Tudor history rarely explored now - life in Ireland during the reign of Henry VIII, Mary, and Elizabeth I. Detailed and scholarly but not too dense. Answered many of my questions and brought me up to Cromwell and the restoration of Charles II.
My copy was an old paperback and sadly the binding broke during my reading.
