Does he have time to change it? Albert, a Princeton mathematics professor, has discovered a secret known as The Tree of Knowledge–a method of predicting and manipulating the future with mathematical precision. But he’s not the only one. Cristina Culebra, and her insurgent RED movement, seek to harness this same power to gain control of the United States and eventually the world. Albert's only hope to stop Cristina's victory lies in a secretive global network dedicated to toppling tyrants the world over. But as Albert and his friends grow more enmeshed, they begin to question whether they've chosen the wrong side. Or if there is a right side? Faced with a frightening new world order, Albert races to save his friends and family and searches for the key to the cipher that may hold the secret to the Tree of Knowledge and possibly to life itself. The Tree of Life is a heart-pumping thriller that explores what happens when the brightest minds go to the darkest places.
"The Tree of Life is a non-stop masterpiece. The plot is thrilling and well thought-out, with unexpected twists and secrets. Daniel G. Miller delivers a breathtaking, page-turning finale to an equally outstanding series." —Los Angeles Book Review
"Brilliantly written...Miller’s characters are dauntless and magnificent." -US Review of Books
Anyone who loves the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, Quantum Radio by A.G. Riddle, Upgrade by Blake Crouch, or the Omega Factor by Steve Berry will love this fast-paced adventure thriller.
Daniel G. Miller is a bestselling thriller and adventure novelist. When he's not writing, he enjoys contemplating the "what-ifs" of the world, traveling and celebrating with his wife, and sitting on the couch like an ogre watching NBA basketball. He currently lives in Boca Raton with his wife, Lexi.
The concluding book in the Tree of Knowledge trilogy, The Tree of Life races to a final confrontation between the rising forces of totalitarianism and the band of heroes known as The Book Club or the Cypher.
Part science fiction, part thriller, the Tree of Life, is about an advanced form of mathematics based on decision tree analysis that is capable of predicting the future. When developed and utilized in its most advanced form, the skill even allows a fighter to predict the actions of an attacker and counter them before they happen. The forces of totalitarianism represented by politician Cristina Culebra learn to use the skill to convince the general population to give up their freedoms without understanding the consequences.
As the third book begins, the US government is on the verge of collapse and take over by the forces of RED (the Reason, Enlightenment, and Development party) led by Culebra and our heroes appear on the verge of losing their fight for democracy. There is one last chance to prevent the forces of totalitarianism from taking global control and the Book Club are racing to make their last stand before everything is lost.
As I have said about past books in the series, the concept behind the book is intriguing even if the characters are a bit muddled and shallow. Some of the character issues (although not all) are fixed in this last book in the series, and the race to final confrontation is quite compelling.
The book is an also not so subtle commentary about the real-life risks to our democratic system posed by those who see a strong or dictatorial leader as the answer to the problems of our democracy and the hidden costs to our freedom that this belief embodies. The cult of personality around Cristina Culebra (aided by her advanced use of the decision tree skills) are a bit cartoonish, but reflective in some ways of the real issues facing American democracy today.
The points made by Miller are made with a sledgehammer rather than with subtlety, but the comic book nature of the plot doesn't really undermine his principal point.
You can read this as political commentary or as science fiction, but either way, it is an interesting and enjoyable series (even if somewhat flawed). In my view it's worth the effort.
Like a lot of series, it is at least possible to read the books as stand-alone novels, but I don't recommend it. There is too much of a backstory that will be lost if you don't start from the beginning.
Like the first two books in this series, The Tree of Life, the third book is an extremely fast paced thriller. The book is action packed and never a dull moment. That combined with relatively short chapters made it a delight to read.
Again, Albert Puddles and his cohorts are in battle against Christina Culebra and her RED army to save the world from her dictatorship. I won't spoil the twists and surprises, nor the ending, but Albert had his hands full in this, the final book of the series.
I hated the series has come to an end as I wish there were two dozen more books by Mr. Miller featuring Albert and his battles against Christina.
Again, like the other two books, this is a solid 5-star book. You should read the series in order or else information in book two and three will spoil some surprises in book one. Get all three and enjoy the ride! I cannot recommend this series highly enough!
Part three of the Tree of Knowledge trilogy, this book was every bit as enjoyable as the first two. Overall trilogy was outstanding.
While the ending was not unexpected, it was satisfying and was preceded by several unexpected twists and turns. The author managed to resolve the series with an action packed book that also continued to increase character development of all the main characters.
PG13 for complex political issues and violent civil insurrection. No explicit sexual content, some violence, mild language.
Not quite as well edited as the previous books, but not so distracting as to render the book unreadable.
Exceptional read! Brilliantly written and captivating to the point where this trilogy ends but shouldn't! Daniel G. Miller...this is a masterpiece! I emailed Daniel and he was kind enough to respond with some "Hidden Easter Eggs "in The Tree of Life. I would love to see someone purchase the rights and make this trilogy a mini-series on TV and of course, stay true to the books. 1,000% READ THIS TRILOGY! You, too will not want it to end!
I liked that this series was quite a but different then most of the adventure, crime novels I've read. The characters were believable, likable and i wouldn't mind knowing them, at least the good guys, I'm going to check out more by Mr Miller and hope they are just as good and entertaining. Thank you for writing,
Book 3. An enjoyable read but not a surprise ending. The series was a good premise. The Good vs. Evil using the same “technology” was different. Characters were slowly developed but likable. We all know this conflict and you have to ask yourself where do you fit in.
Thank heavens it will never happen, no one person will ever likely have that power although the Vatican comes close. Great writing very creative. Excellently written. Really enjoyed reading. Thank you.
Had to finish what I started…but my advice is to not start these books. Other than learning about discussion trees and more about persuasion, this series is dull, rushed and fanciful.
Enjoyed the whole series. A timely read these days. Shows how easily people can be manipulated with fear and empty promises and accept absolute control.
