Christmas is just around the corner and everyone is excited – especially if you have a boyfriend. Nikki Carter and Kevin Elliott in The Break-Up Diaries: Volume 2 weave two stories of first love, pain and recovery.
Complicated was the status Zoey was not expecting to see on her boyfriend’s Facebook page. She remembered the day he sat next to her and asked her to be his girl friend. Now things were “complicated.” Her friends, Cheyenne and Todrick, thought she should just forget about him but Zoey was out for revenge. In So Over it, Nikki Carter takes readers on a roller coaster ride into the ups and downs of falling in love.
In Swag by Kevin Elliott, Zori was looking for excitement and fun. She knew that Jay has had a crush on her since middle school. He was smart and kind of cute. But Zori wanted some one with an edge. DeMarco was smart, he wore the best clothes and he did not answer to anyone. But Zori was not herself when she was with DeMarco and everyone was beginning to notice it.
Carter and Elliott brought two very different and realistic stories that teens can relate to. Both stories addressed issues, such as social networks, rejections, alcohol, acceptance and understanding. I could not put the book down and I highly recommend this book.

I chose this book because it seemed interesting to me. The plot of the book is basically how the girls fall in love with the bad boys instead of the ones they deserve. One girl gets dumped on Facebook, another one goes out with a guy that gets arrested for selling drugs. Is love worth the trouble? My favorite quote was "I'm not rude, I'm honest. I just speak what's on my mind, even if most can't handle the truth." I liked this quote because it shows that everyone can tell lies but only the strongest of people can accept the truth. I thought that the author's writing style was fascinating. This is because she described how each character felt toward each other and that inspired me. I would recommend this book to anyone that has been dumped in public or fell in love with a drug dealer. This is because if any person experienced this kind of situation then they can look at another persons life and say, " I know how that feels."

This was a novel with 2 stories for preteens
or young adults. I enjoyed every word. The First story So Over It was phenomenal. I enjoyed the storyline, dialogue, and the characters. The moral of the story was eloquently told from a young woman's standpoint on positive friendships, valuable life's lessons and teenage problem into today's age. Great story! The 2nd story Away was just as amazing an fresh with its bold story of teenage pregnancy, drama, and decisions. I enjoyed the surprises and twists. Great read!

Good messages for young ladies
Happy to read a ratchet-free YA story for a change. These two short stories show how teenage attraction takes its twists and turns all while leading to greater self-awareness as well as maturity.
