I'm the oldest of three girls. I was raised by my grandparents (my mother's parents) and have to admit I had a pretty spoiled childhood. We were in no way, shape, or form wealthy. No my grandparents worked every single day to make sure my sisters and I had the things we needed, as well as a few extras.

My mother, well I could write a book just about my life in trying to deal with her. Let's just simply say she has a LOT of problems and even though I had the love and devotion of her parents, I grew up pretty fast. It wasn't that I didn't have a childhood, because I did, I just had to deal with things that most of the other kids around me never knew about.

All that is in the past though.

Now I am a wife and mom of three, two boys and a girl. My oldest is getting ready to graduate kindergarten and it amazes me each and every single day how much he is growing up already. The twins, well they are an adventure themselves! I am hoping for preschool next year, crossing fingers they get accepted.

People always ask, how do you find time to sit and write with three kids? It's actually really easy. My hubby works a second shift job so after 8pm when the kids are all tucked in for the night, I sit down here at the computer and type away. I get a good three hours each night of uninterrupted writing time :)

I had no idea why Scribd would recommend such book to me 🤔

Dani and Carmen were both assholes, Carmen cheated on her boyfriend and Dani pulled out all the moves / tricks to get the attached Carmen. The story had some good vibes so it wasn't a total loss and the gem of the story was the make out and sex scenes. They were the melt in your hands and mouths kind, really well written. Dani knew how to use her fingers / tongue / mouth to teleport Carmen and She Who Shall Not Be Named to the land of Orgasnia.

It should take you less than an hour to finish the book, it'll take longer if you admire the cover and memorize the above scenes as if you'll be sitting for a test on them the next day.

Oh and the jolt of electricity that the hs felt during their first handshake was the work of the lightning thief, using Zeus' bolt, I'm pretty sure.

This story has heart, a touch of class, and some life-changing shifts. It is also very sweet. Our main gals get introduced to each other on the first day of fall semester at a math class. They cordially shake hands and a jolt of electricity is palpably startling for the accounting major. She wonders if her new acquaintance felt that too? While each gal deals with life and times, as readers, I had the delightful pleasure of being right inside their heads as they try to keep an even keel and a more open mind.

Dani is a stylish dyke who passionately but consistently moves from one love to the next as her days and locations swing and sway. Her current home, a gift from her wealthy parents after high school graduation, is her castle and main base of operations for work and school. Dani architects a pretty seamless cut with a summer love, which opens the playing field for a mega infatuation with Carmen upon first contact on day one of her math class. Dani is quite a stunner, definitely has a way with women, but also has a remarkably soft and deep core. I loved her.

Carmen, an accounting major at college, is sharing a house with her boyfriend and hopefully future husband, David. His job generates some real friction and pain for Carmen while adding a total flip-flop pressure along with her completely eye-opening and heart-flittering response to Dani. Carmen tries to come to terms with the possibility that she is bisexual while being torn apart by the love and pain caused by David. I truly wanted and hoped she would see the light and "grow a pair".

This story is nearly perfect for me. Personally, I found the super rapid turn of events between Carmen and David that clears a path for Carmen and Dani a bit difficult to believe. However, this is still a wonderful book. The people and events within this tale should not be missed, but experienced in their fullness and beauty. In the final analysis, this was a blast!

I had a hard time getting into this story in the beginning. Dani is a hard to like character. She's a player who doesn't really bother about the feelings of the girls she has affairs with so I didn't really get invested in her as a character.

When she meets Carmen, a straight girl who's living with her boyfriend, she really falls for her.

Their little dance is decently written; how Dani slowly seduces Carmen and the opening of Carmen to the idea of love with a woman. However, it was a little too superficial for me to really get on board with the idea they will be a longer term couple.

First, I just don't believe people like Dani, how she's written, actually change their spots that easily and I felt that the challenge of seducing Carmen was probably the turn on for her. If she were written as having more of a conscience about the women she used, maybe I could get on board with her or believe that she can think of someone other than herself.

Carmen is a bit more realistic. I felt that Carmen realizing that being with a woman gives her more than being with a man is a kind of cliche in the straight woman falls for lesbian story. She's in pain. The man she loves is ignoring her and treating her like crap. If he was a decent guy I don't feel that Carmen would have given Dani a second look. She goes with Dani because Dani pays attention to her in a time of pain. So it's hard for me to take it too seriously. At least Carmen didn't jump on board that easily, she's very hesitant.

I also felt that had Carmen decided not to be with Dani ultimately, Dani would have just moved on, not thinking too much about it.

So the author failed for me on expressing the depth of what the characters were feeling.

That said, it's a decent read. I was interested enough to keep reading it. And the sex scenes between the women were nicely written.

Other than it being two women the story is pretty straight forward and common. At least, that’s what I thought at first. I would have lost a million dollars on that bet. Ms. Yeakle clearly knows her stuff and is talented enough to write it with class.

Her writing has effortless flow. The characters were very well written and I could clearly see them walking past me in real life. Now for the f/f intimacy – smoking hot but with a touch of sensual sizzle that really brings the scenes together. I am very impressed by how smoothly this read. The budding relationship between Dani and Carmen was beautifully written. Well except for the whole peanut butter on toast thing...that’s just a very strange combination, lol.

The only issue I have is the editing. The run-on sentences to start with. I hate them, they drive me absolutely freakin’mad and there’s a lot of them in here. There's a comma overload! Normally, this wouldn’t hurt the overall rating but it sticks out like a sore thumb when reading and really hinders the story.

With those issues, I thought for sure Forbidden Desires would get a 4. I kept reading and the characters became deeper. They seemed to leap from the page and unfold around me. I wanted to know what would happen between Dani and Carmen. I wanted David to get lost and realize what a wonderful woman he’d been ignoring. This book became a romance that bloomed like a rose in the winter.

If you’ve never read a f/f novel give this a try. If you have, read this! Forbidden Desires is well worth your time.
