AITA: Am I the asshole?
Five years ago when she left, she broke my heart. No warning. No hey, this isn’t working out. No nothing. Just poof. One day she’s there, in my bed, and we’re talking about our futures. The next, she’s gone.
So when she shows up five years later and acts like she didn’t leave me with a broken heart, I get angry. So. Freakin’. Angry.
Of course, this is where I spiral. When we went through medical school together, we were on equal footing. Not anymore. Now I’m her attending, and I’ve made it my personal mission to make her life hell.
She wants to finish up her residency and finally become a doctor? Well, she’ll have to go through every single bad thing I can throw at her, first.
Seeping, maggot-infested, pus-filled bed sore? Yep, that’s hers to take care of. Man shitting every three seconds uncontrollably? That’s also hers. Man and woman having a baby while also in the throes of a divorce? You guessed it. Hers.
If I can make her leave after what she put me through, I’ll feel accomplished.
Only problem is, I forgot how determined Valhalla Singh was. Guess she’ll be reminding me.
Because Valhalla wasn’t named that for nothing.

Even when they were bickering and sniping, or just plain trying to avoid each other, there was no denying the lasting connection between Val and Felix.

They were once a couple, finding their way to forever... and then they were not. When Val's father died, leaving a caveat in his will to force his children back to the circus, she and Felix made a plan to work around her new schedule. But things didn't work out that way and both thought the other had thoroughly abandoned them. All I wanted was for them to finally have a conversation, and when they did, it was amazing to see how fast everything worked out.

Well... sorta.

This was an entertaining read and I found myself amused by a character who tried to cause trouble.

"I will put you in a trunk and help people look for you. Try me." —Text from Val to Tammy

I found it so very easy to like Val and Felix. They were such warm and fun characters and their story was both emotional and realistic. Will Keene be next or will we watch Zip fall first?

Oh, Val and Felix broke my heart.

Second chance romance is a hard one for me to love because I'm a cynical cow, and normally, it comes with more angst that I'm prepared to deal with. Lucky for me, Lani never drags things out unessessarily and even in those moments of angst.. it's not a filler or over dramatised. It fit the characters and their journey.

Val not only had the displeasure of have a dirty rotten ballball bag for a father. She also later had to find out the true extent of his atrocities whilst having sacrificed the only good thing in her life that was just for her. She never moved on from Felix. The man who dragged her out of her comfort zone whilst allowing her to be herself. The light to her dark. The Social the her anti if you will. Val felt hard and broke me with just how determined she was despite her heart breaking bit by bit all over again. She was strong but sweet and so loving when you got under her tough shell.

Felix, at first, is so frustrating. Man, but it's hard to hate a man that moves mountains to be by the women he believed abandoned him. Who truly broke him like nothing else could. He was stubborn and grudgeful, but even then, he couldn't help but check up on Val. Couldn't help but love her even when he hated her. Now was he ignorant to Tammy the ho.. absolutely. Did I want to scream because honestly, she was too freaking much. That's a heck, yes. But I had to give him props for having patience and kindness despite being surrounded by crazy. Oh, and how he looked after his pops. Man, that broke my heart. It was like he loved too much for his body on times.

These two frustrated me beyond belief, but it also wasn't just a case of miscommunication, so I couldn't complain. How could they have fought the unknown. But lord, these two belonged together. The chemistry is insane. The connection is undoubtable. They just got one another like no other. The bickering, the fury, and the hurt. The sarcasm, humour, tension, and love.. it was palpable between them, and I was here for it all.

Well, except for Tammy. Let's not get into her.

Gahh, I love the circus, this family, and everything that comes with the crazy. With every book brings more feels, more characters and leaves me more wanting that the previous one!!. It's also what I loved about this author.
She writes a great story that hits right, keeping me fully engaged from page one until the end. I was consumed in Val and Felix, not wanting to get off the rollercoaster.

I'm sad it's over, but I'm also so excited to see what comes next and, more importantly.. WHO.

HONESTLY what I'd give to get the next one now!.

Much to my delight and excitement I received a ARC of this and let me tell you ladies….and gents, it’s a good one! I won’t give any spoilers as I personally don’t like them so my thoughts are:

Been an avid reader of Lani Lynn Vale’s since I stumbled across her books a few years ago and her newest one Sold To The Circus doesn’t disappoint. Val and Felix have been a long time coming but boy did they spectacularly. The right amount of second chance, angst, action, spicy, romance and humour can be found weaved in amongst the pages. I finished this book in the space of 24hrs with a family and work commitments if that’s any indication of quality.

The build up for future additions to her book catalogue is hinted at quite strongly which I think builds the excitement, well mine anyway.

Well done Lani looking forward to future writings!

Ms. Vale's Welcome to the Circus series has been an emotional and exhilarating thrill ride through the first four books and this is yet another satisfying foray into the suspense and romance of circus life. Though you COULD read this book on its own, there's a lot in this couple's past that affects their plans for the future, so reading the previous books gives greater understanding of what drives this couple. Whereas the previous books saw the circus as the main setting, this one is in the outside world in a bit of turning back the clock to where this couple first connected, with hope that they can find their way back to each other.

Val and Felix were once a couple, making their way through the rigors of medical school, all while making plans for their HEA. That's until her father's death turns their world upside down and takes them in opposite directions for the next five years, years full of hurt and misunderstandings for him while for her came the reveal of painful truths and a need to resume HER life. Five years ago they were on the same page, with plans for a future together while being doctors. It's heartbreaking how different these five years have actually been though, with him hating Val for leaving and wanting to hurt her for breaking his heart. With her father's will keeping her tied to the circus, she's just as broken-hearted and it's yet another reason to hate her father. When finally given their chance to reunite it's definitely not a happy reunion or a smooth journey. It's a journey that starts under an umbrella of anger and misunderstandings, hurt feelings and circumstances that have them interacting on different levels than before. With Felix now Val's boss, he has plans for retribution, plans fueled by his friend Tammy, who has her own ideas. Fate has other plans for them though, love and HEA are meant to be, in a journey that's a bit bumpy and frustrating. The moment Felix sees Val is the moment his plans for revenge go up in smoke, the love he had for her is reignited and it warmed my heart. Despite Tammy constantly trying to extinguish the light of their love, Felix and Val were destined to be in this second chance romance fueled by lots of outside forces.

This is another satisfying addition to the series with a likable and cheer-worthy main couple. Setting the story outside the circus gave this one a more unique feeling, but I was very happy that the siblings were still very much present with loving and humorous interactions on display. Tammy was an irritant, a stereotype that I desperately wanted to go away, and she didn't exactly get what she deserved at the end which frustrated me further. She's the reason this book wasn't an A read for me in fact. Despite her intrusion I'm very much looking forward to the next book in this series featuring the delicious and brooding Nash! I'm also looking forward to what the author has planned for a possible future series with the trail of literary bread crumbs Ms. Vale has left throughout the books in this series.

This one was interesting due to the history that Val and Felix had and how Felix was manipulated. It was so easy to see what was going on there, it drove me nuts that he couldn't see it. I felt bad for Val and all that she went through at the start, getting all the shit piled on her, yet she did what she had to and took it. By the end of the book, everyone could see that she was the better person than most of them, but still. Felix surprised me with all the hits that he kept taking and was still able to keep going. It helped that along the way he managed to repair his relationship with Val. Loved the surprise at the end, even if it seems a bit hard to believe.

Once again LLV has me sobbing, this seems to be her favorite past time destroying a reader and then putting them back together with the amazingness that is her writing! If you haven't tried an LLV book, don't start with this one, it's book five of the series and that would be just crazy, but I can promise you will not be sorry. LLV has created this world that gives us the perfect amount of drama, danger, violence, naughty bits that have you fanning yourself. Val and Felix's story sucked me in and didn't spit me out till the last word. I give them 5 stars.

I've loved every one of the books in this series and this one is no exception. This second chance romance is how they should be written a hero that's more than a bit of a t!t and a heroine that can match him without being a doormat or a martyr. Loved it!

Valhalla aka Val’s story is next and it’s another great one by LLV❣️

After Val’s father passed away, she and her siblings are called back to run the circus. Not wanting to do go back to that life at all, Val puts her current career on hold for her family, but she also leaves behind the man she loves😢

Now, they are all back on track years later and Val wants to resume her medical career, only what she doesn’t know is that the man she loves has made plans of his own😳

I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review, I can’t wait to see who’s book is next😍

Loved Val and Felix’s second chance love story!

"My heart...I didn't realize that it wasn't beating right until she came into the room."

No matter how much they wanted to hate each other, they was no denying that they were both still deeply in love. This was such a fab story where the course of true love triumphed over machinations and misunderstandings. I loved the rapport and chemistry between Val and Felix. I was also excited to meet some new characters that gave me a feeling that there might be a new series on the way!

We met Felix a while ago & it was hinted he had a history with Val. That history is both beautiful & heartbreaking. I can't say anything else bc it would be too spoilery!

Felix is determined to punish Val for breaking his heart, but at the same time, he's still drawn to her & can't really stand to see her hurting, so the revenge plans don't quite go as planned. 🤣

There's lots going on with the family & Felix's family dynamics, and it's a quick read that kept me turning pages. I didn't want their story to end bc I was enjoying them so much!

Looking forward to the next sister's story... we learned some new tidbits about Nash & I'm excited to see what he & Zip come up with! Also, hints to the next series with somebody's family... maybe? 😮

I love Felix & Val & their banter & steam & forever love!

😍😍😮

Amazon / Apple / Nook / Kobo

Valhalla "Val" Drew formerly Singh, has returned to the medical career she left behind when her father's will dictated she and her sibs go back to their family circus. She didn't know her ex, the one she had to leave, would be her attending physician aka her boss, and just knows she's in for it because the man is apparently really mad at her. No matter, she'll get through it because she's a strong woman even if Felix doesn't think so or even care.

Felix never got over Val, nor has he ever stopped being angry at her for leaving him when he knows the could have made it work. Now that she's back, he's not determined to claim her heart again. Nope, he wants the opposite, to make her feel his wrath, his pain. Except...somehow she's wiggling past his defenses and back into his heart again. Once they have a conversation and revelations come to light, he's back to where he was before and realizing he never stopped loving her. Now he just has to keep her, withstanding interference from his "friend" and even outside forces they have no control over.

I love this series! Val and Felix are probably two of the sweetest of the bunch so far - their story isn't quite as crazy as some of the previous, but it's just as entertaining and their chemistry is just as spicy. I love a good second chance, when the characters put in the work to deserve it, and damn did Felix and Val do everything possible to deserve finding each other and love again.

A second chance romance that I read too quickly

I always try to take my time before reading a new Lani Lynn Vale book because, even if the author releases her books rather quickly, I always find myself wanting more once the book is finished ><

We had already had a glimpse of Felix in the book I'll Just Date Myself of the Gator Bait MC series and so I had been curious about the story between Felix and Val for a while ... And I really liked their second chance romance ! So much angst at the beginning and misunderstandings and I loved that they were both battered by life but also so cute together !

I'm not giving 5 stars just becauseI would have liked more drama (with the ex Tammy, with Felix's family and with the gang war ><)

In short, a sexy, emotionally charged romance that I read too quickly

PS : we FINALLY got a glimpse of the Carter in this book, the series which is planned for May and I can't wait ! A whole badass family in law enforcement, it's going to be SO great !!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

This is the fifth book in the Welcome to the Circus Series from Lani Lynn Vale. If you have not read any of this books in this series, then you are missing some really great books. I have loved every single one of them and Sold to the Circus is no exception. This is the story of Val and Felix. These two have known each other for a long time. Five years ago she left him. She was in his bed one moment and they were planning a future and the next she is gone and now five years have passed. By the way she acts you would never know that she stomped on his heart and to add insult to injury, they are now having to work together. He is her attending and she is the resident. He however doesn't know that she didn't have a choice but to leave. When her father died she had to return home and run the circus with her siblings for two years. She has put in her time and the circus can now run in once place and she is ready to get back to her dream of being a doctor. She had not a clue that Felix had moved during the years she was away and is now going to basically be her boss. He also doesn't know that she broke her own heart just as much as she did his. But he is angry, will not listen and is now going to make her life as miserable as he possibly can.
You get to run the wheel of emotions reading this book. It will put your emotions in the ringer. I loved these characters and they story they had to tell is one I didn't put down until I was finished. Like I said this entire series has been so good. I am so glad there is a book left to go. I am going to be so sad when this series ends.

favourite from this series

Awesome second chance romance. Enemies-to-lovers lite which is my favourite type but maybe not for everyone if you love that genre. I have enjoyed every book in this series but I think this one is my favourite so far.

I hope Amazon sort out whispersync soon because I preordered the eBook knowing that there would be an audiobook as well.

I’ll add some spoilers below.

Val and Felix had a relationship when they were in medical school working towards becoming doctors but then Val's father died and she had to return to the circus. In doing that she left Felix behind. Well, at least that is what he thought. She however never moved on from him. As much as he thought he had moved on he really hadn't. In fact, her got a job at the very hospital she was going to be a resident at so he could punish her for all the hurt she caused him.

Let me just say that Lani Lynn Vale set up this second chance romance beautifully. I am always wary of these types of books because they can get a bit cliched but this one was perfect. There was plenty of hurt and anger on both sides but you could still feel the love they felt even when they were arguing and avoiding each other.

Another thing I love about Lani Lynn Vale is she always does a great job of creating the "bad guys" and she didn't disappoint here. Tammy, the evil cow of a best friend was perfect. Hating on her was easy and honestly, I wanted to throttle Felix at times over her. This one does take place more at the hospital than the circus but we do get all of the siblings from time to time.

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This review was originally posted on Storied Conversation

Val and Felix met in med school. Both have very crappy home lives and hope to create a better future for themselves. But, when Val’s family needed her, she left Felix and her dreams of being a doctor behind. She felt she had no choice. He thought she did.

For two years, there is nothing between them. No calls, texts, or even an email. Zero contact, and both try to move on with their separate lives.

But, now that the circus has found a permanent home, Val can go back to med school. What she didn’t expect, however, was that her ex would be her attending doctor. He plans to make life as difficult as possible for her, since he feels that’s what she did to him when she left and ended all contact.

But, everything isn’t as it seems. And, those feelings from years ago may be tainted by hate right now, but they are still there for both of them . . .

I am so in love with this series. Every couple and every story has been so unique and special. I adored that Val and Felix got a second chance at a HEA since it was clear they were soul mates and perfect for one another.

As with every Lani Lynn Vale book, there is drama. And, you are gonna love to hate the cause of the drama in this book! They are wicked and nasty and will eventually get what’s coming for them. There’s also an element of danger. Anyone who has read Lani knows she isn’t just letting this couple get off easy with their second chance . . . they will be put through the wringer first. And, be ready for the unexpected! 5 stars!

I received a complimentary early release e-book prior to release and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was a really awesome second chance romance. Its about a family of siblings and in this story it is Val's turn to go after her dreams and also to get a second chance with the man she loves.

Val's dreams are to be a doctor. She ends up working as a new resident at a hospital in Texas and her ex, Felix is her attending. She has not seen or talked to Felix in five years and their reunion is definitely a lot of fun.

This book was seriously awesome. We learn a lot about Felix and his past relationship with Val and what led to their breakup. In addition, we also get to catch up with her siblings and their spouses.

This book had everything I love. An evil best friend, lots of drama, some circus fun and a majority of the scenes happen at this hospital. I loved how strong Val was and how she stands by her man even when she isn't sure he wants her there. I also loved Felix and how much he loves her and how he will do just about anything for her.

This was one of the best books I have read by the author, and it really was so much fun. I am really starting to love this series and I loved how involved her family is with her in this book. Be warned this book is so awesome I could not stop reading it, so make sure you have plenty of time to read the whole story. Felix and Val have great chemistry and their angst was so awesome in this book.

This was another great read in this ongoing series. Felix and Val's story was filled with suspense, longing, love, betrayals, payback, emotion, family, and friendships.

Loved the fact that Valhalla aka Val got another shot at happiness it seems someone was conspiring to make that happen or not. We loved Val's crazy big family and how they are constantly up in everyone's business and look out for each other. The family is always there for one another when the need arises.

Felix and Val had a past with one another and now that they have found themselves in each other's presence once again they have to navigate through the murky waters of the past and present to find out if they have a future or leave the past in the past.

We have to say we were rooting for the couple to work through their feelings of hurt and betrayal as they truly belonged together. Love the fact when they decided to give it a go that it was like they were never apart meaning how they seemed to be able to pick up where they left off as neither party really changed much other than being more determined than ever and confident in their chosen professions. Loved this couple's chemistry and how Felix seemed to fit quite nicely in with Val's crazy family just fine.

A heartfelt read that was also filled with suspense, and had more than a few surprises. We have to say we felt like we smiled throughout the story the entire time. We Loved it.

I am always someone who’s a bit skeptical of second chance romances because I am just always wondering why they broke up in the first place, ya know. But this book seemed promising, because there was an actual reason they broke up and that was Valhallas rat of a dad and Felix’s rat of a best friend. Val’s dad basically pulled them apart and Tammy made sure they stayed that way by blocking the others calls.

This book was perfect for Val the fortune teller because it honestly felt like fate. Like they were always meant to be pulled back together and find each other again.

I really liked it when Felix was still angry at Val for what happened because I hate it when they both are like ‘oh yeah, that was the last I forgive you’ like no that’s but how it works. So I liked the little grudge he held against her. I also liked the angry and hot hate vibes they were sending each other because those are HAWT.

I didn’t love how Felix’s grandpa died because I feel like it wasn’t necessary, his pops was only mentioned like twice and then boom he just dies, and there wasn’t that much focused around his death either. Also I hated how the dog died because why just why do they have to kill off peoples pets, it’s just too sad. And I didn’t like how it was Felix who got hurt instead of her because I’m weird like that and only like it when the girl is hurt.

But disregarding those things this was a pretty good book and it went about the way I would expect.

Man, I love this circus series! We got a hint several books ago about Val and Felix’s past, so I was here for this one. Val and Felix were in medical school together and had their futures planned out, until Val’s father died and threw the proverbial wrench into it the whole thing. Promises were made, and broken, and left a huge hole in both of their hearts. Fast forward five years, and Val is back to finish her residency and her attending physician is none other than Felix himself. He’s determined to make her life hell for what she put him through, but then he sees her for the first time and it’s like everything falls away. He tries so hard to avoid her, but it’s obvious their connection is just too strong and some loves are meant to be. Especially when they realize there’s a huge reason behind all the broken promises.

This book has everything I love about all of her stories. There’s tons of love and laughs, a touch of suspense, and always that one character you want to throat punch…Tammy…which honestly, I would have liked to have seen her get more than what she got LOL My heart did break for Felix for everything he went through, but I loved that Val is the one to get him through it all. My love for this series only continues to grow and I cannot wait to see what’s up with Zip and the hunky, broody Nash. Yum!

Can’t get enough of these characters! Even as the premise of these characters and their connected story changes, it adds another element to this series that continues to make me come back and keeps me on the edge of my seat. This installment focuses on Val and her return to her dream of becoming a doctor, and we get introduced to the one she left in order to come back to her family. Unbeknownst to Val, Felix has relocated to the same town as her in a twist to become her attending doctor so he can give her a dose of the pain he felt when she left to return home to her family and the circus. Turns out there are some crazy twists that involve Felix’s best friend and keeping him and Val apart. I loved Val, much like all the sisters, and my heart broke for her but made me so happy that she got to go back and keeps herself strong in a hostile workplace. My heart broke for Felix with a double whammy of things, and I love that his best friend got what she deserved. I can’t wait for the next installment – I truly love LLV and her writing, and the plots she comes up with really just are the best!

LLV is back with Val and Felix’s story, theirs is the fifth from her Welcome to the Circus series, set in a drama filled world with equal amounts of violence, danger and naughtiness 😉.

Val was on track to becoming a doctor when her father died, part of his will stated that she along with her siblings had to return to the circus for two years which not only ended her career, it ended her relationship with Felix, forcing her to leave her heart behind, breaking his in the process. Years were stolen from them

Families and legal requirements kept them apart physically, but it is the further interference that cost them the most and made each and every day feel like a repetitive car crash they couldn't escape. It kept them apart and alone.
It may be revenge and deceit that finally brings them back to be in the same place, but it is love and truth that finally allows them to forgive each other, forgive themselves for not fighting harder and to finally live the life they should have had.
I love Felix and Val and am gutted for the years that were stolen from them, the worst thing is, is that it was the people closest to them that stole the most, people you should be able to trust with your life. The love they share is easy to see, it pours from the page with every interaction, even when they think they hate each other.
Another fantastic, if heart wrenching, book in the Singh Circus series. We are also introduced in this book to a family of eight siblings who are all Police or Special Forces, I am hoping that we will have a future series with them finding their HEA's.

5 He Can Breathe Again Stars!!

With every book in this series I fall more in love with this world that LLV has created! This is book number five and it centers around Val and Felix and their second chance.

I loved that this book didn’t have a lot of conflict in it. What it did have was the right amount of angst given these two thought they had been abandoned by the other, but come to find out, not so much, an insane amount of chemistry that was reignited and more powerful than either of them thought possible, witty banter and a hidden softy under a façade that I found so endearing.

The minute I started this book I fell hard for both Val and Felix and I’ve been waiting for her book. I’ve always wondered who her Hero would be and LLV has given her the perfect man for her! He loves all the parts of Val and brings out a side of her that others may not have seen before. These two are just meant to be and if the ease with which they came back together doesn’t prove that I don’t know what else would. I’m excited to see what happens to them as we move through the next two books!

This is the fifth book in the series. Not gonna lie based off the blurb I really thought I was going to strongly dislike Dr. Felix Kent, but I was in for a surprise. Felix has been dealt one nasty hand in life. He gets blow after blow. It was tough for me to read about his Pops because I was so close to my grandpa so that part hit me right in the heart then with Gee the tears were flowing. Life sucks sometimes and gets in the way of what our hearts truly want doesn't help when evil is potting against you either. All that leads up to the moment Val steps into the hospital that Felix works at. Val is finally going to reach her dream of doctor, but it is not without it's trials. This was a great second chance romance. There are some characters in this one that I'm crossing my fingers hoping that Lani Lynn Vale makes a series of!! I can tell you right now I would so be here for it!!! The end of this one made me so happy with it's surprising twists. I felt this is a book that this family needed big time. I'm eagerly awaiting the next one in the series! I'm so invested in this family.

Good book

This book was good but not as romantic as I like my romance books to be. It doesn’t have the usual happy “feels” one gets an LLV book. Felix and Val love each other but she had to leave medical school to join her siblings at the circus. But neither of them heard from each other, which resulted in him hating her. Or so he thinks. More than 1/2 the book is of them having some nice moments but then going back to avoiding each other. I like the MC’s to have more interactions with each other and spend time as a couple. So the last 45% of the book was great. They finally figure out what the issue was and I got to see them as a couple. The plot as ok. Some interesting topics and twists but they didn’t get elaborated. Which is not that big of a deal for me since I prefer my books to not have angst or drama. This was an enjoyable read but my least favorite in the series so far. I still recommend this series though as the first 4 are real good. This one was good, just not great. I can see many people enjoying it more than me.
