Katana Collins is a USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels, novellas, and comic books in a variety of genres. She is most known for her sensual contemporary romances and her wildly popular comic book— Batman White Knight Presents: Harley Quinn with DC Comics.

When she was younger and stole her mother’s Harlequins to read beneath the covers with a flashlight, she wanted to read about the tough as nails heroine. The perfectly imperfect girl with quirks and attitude and sass. And the anti-heroes who were anything but “Prince Charming.” Forget the knight on a white horse … she wanted the bad boy on a motorcycle.

An avid animal lover, she lives in Portland, Maine with her kind of mean cat, derpy lab-pitt mix, mellow chihuahua, and very not mellow cairn terrier puppy. Oh, yeah… there’s a husband somewhere in that mix, too.

She can usually be found in a coffee shop with her nose buried in a laptop wearing fabulous (albeit sometimes impractical) shoes.

She loves connecting with book lovers like herself, and fellow sassy storytellers, so feel free to drop her an email, visit her on her website. She also loves connecting on Instagram, Facebook or in her reader group, Kat’s Kittens!

There's a matchmaker, there’s a wingman, and now there’s a wingwoman, which somewhat conflates the first two. For a fee, Hope Marcoux-Evans will coach you and help you find the one of your dreams. Never mind that her own relationship just ended when she caught her fiancé cheating. In the aftermath, Hope has taken some time off from New York and is in Austin, TX, for her father’s upcoming nuptials. During the few weeks before the wedding she puts her wingwoman skills to work.

Which is exactly what puts Hope on the radar of country music super star Josh Gabriel. He needs a muse so he can write some hit songs for his upcoming album and thinks Hope can help him. Except the moment he lays eyes on her, lyrics and melodies and chord progressions whisper in his mind, and he's found his muse. Now it's just a matter of convincing Hope.

I can always count on this gifted storyteller for a fun, fantastic read, but this one is next level. With a fresh, unique premise, this romance has loads of laughs, substantial steam, and tons of heart. I flew through the pages, falling more and more in love with these characters. While I was sad to see it end, the happiness it put in my heart lasted long after the last page. Delightfully humorous and poignantly heartfelt, you won’t want to miss this wonderful, light-hearted, satisfying read!

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED this book! I couldn't read it fast enough! Hope and Josh were an unlikely couple. But there was something about her that drew him to her. Josh needs to be inspired and Hope brings out his creativity. While they have an agreement, real feelings get involved. Hope is at a crossroads in life and the timing for this work couldn't have been better. I thought this book felt realistic and I couldn't keep a smile off my face. I was involved in their relationship and wanted Josh to work his way into Hope's life for real. If you're looking for a feel good, fun read then please don't let this book pass you by! You won't be disappointed!

I was provided an ARC of this book via the author and Literally Yours PR, all opinions are my own.

This was so much fun. I love a good opposites attract, and Hope and Josh delivered. Hope city dweller from NYC and loves thrifting designer goods. Josh is a famous country singer from Texas, who has lost his inspiration. When Hope temporarily relocates to Austin for personal reasons, she decides to take on new clients during her stay. She's a professional wing woman who helps people learn to date confidently and safely. When Josh asks her to help find him a muse to inspire his next album, she is up for the challenge especially when he sets his sites on Hope herself as said muse.

This has everything I want from a romance book. Solid characters with good banter, some emotional baggage that they have to deal with, great supporting characters, and just the right amount of steam. Josh is up against alot. He has to write a new album or face losing his label. The plan he has hatched to write the new album doesn't exactly produce the sound he is known for, but it is inspired and wonderful. As he and Hope get to know each other, they both have to deal with emotions from the past that they aren't really ready for. With the help of good friends, good advice, and killer wardrobe Josh and Hope just might figure it out and find the love neither one of them was looking for but both of them needed.

Overall I really loved this. It had great supporting characters and Josh and Hope were wonderful as main characters. I loved spending time with them and couldn't put this down.

POV: Dual
Spice: 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️

I went in expecting a lot of laughs and came out with a lot of emotions instead! Josh and Hope get their HEA, but they both had to fight for it, making it even more heartwarming when they work it all out.

I loved that with Josh, I had the feeling of having a sort of behind the scenes look at what it’s like to be a country star, and how sweet he really was, even though he definitely had his moments of being a jerk. I felt like Hope had the most growth throughout this book, and she became a really likable character. While these two have an instant attraction, I wish I could’ve seen their chemistry come to life a little more on page (there is one open door scene and not much else). Hope and Josh have a lot of family issues to work through, and I really liked how everything worked out for hope and her family in the end. I just wish there was a little more closure with Josh and his dad.

Country music with a backdrop of Texas and a horse rescue ran by Josh were a few of my favorite things about Wingwoman, and this book proved to be so much more than just cute cover!

This was the first book I have read by Katana and it did not disappoint!

Josh Gabriel is a country musician who needs someone to be his muse or inspiration for the lyrics of his next album. Hope Marcoux-Evans is a professional “wingwoman” who helps people find their next love interest.

From the moment Josh meets Hope from across the room at a coffee shop he started getting inspiration for his next song. He hires Hope to find his next muse and if she doesn’t , she has to agree to be his muse herself! Also, he wants her to use him to make her cheating ex jealous. Said ex is an a$$hole!

All I can say is you need to read this one! The spice was only one 🌶️ but what made this book really enjoyable to read was the beautiful story behind certain things like his mum and the horses she used to rescue and the background of some of Josh’s earlier songs from his first album.

This book had me crying in parts and laughing in parts!

Some of my favourite quotes:

“Because love is toxic. And I want you to ruin me before I destroy you” - Josh

“He looked at me in a way that I got the impression he not only saw me… but also knew me. Maybe even more than I knew myself.” - Hope

Thanks to Literally Yours PR and Katana for the arc! This review is completely my own opinion! My rating is 4.5 stars ❤️

Adorable

Josh and Hope are easy to connect with and enjoy.

This author consistently provides engaging and entertaining stories, with interesting characters and cute HEAs.

The sizzling chemistry between these two was fun. It was quite a page turner and I was sad to be done with this book quicker than I wanted.

I recommend this author and her numerous other creative works.

Wingwoman is a standalone but has ties to the Beefcakes series by Katana Collins and ties up some loose ends too!

Hope and Josh connect across the barroom, she a matchmaker wing woman and he’s a country music superstar. He needs a muse or his career could go down the pipes so he hires Hope to find him a muse so he can get back on top in the music industry…

What happens next is such a fun, laugh out loud, sparks ignite, passion, secrets and finding out that what you need may be right in front of you…

could not put down

Really enjoyed this story. It was super intriguing and I wanted to know “why?!” However, I would have liked a stronger ending. I hate when most of the story is the build up and the hea is so brief. It’s worth the read; it’s a good story; I just liked it so much, I would have liked to know more about them as a couple - even a bit more detail in the epilogue would have helped. As such, there were several unanswered questions or issues that were left vague, at best, or just not addressed. One other aspect I would have liked is if the past mistake Josh made could have been re-addressed in a way to offer some happier closure, maybe a new song, and I wish mental health issues had not just been brought up but then not addressed. That part was heavy and serious and not necessarily dealt with with very well. Even with these detractors, I gave it 4 stars. While I enjoyed the book, I was surprised when I read the bonus. It gives us a partial look at a fun new situation for Hope & Josh, but in order to get the conclusion you have to pay. (The author’s website has levels of membership which require paying various levels of fees). Because I disagree with having to pay for a conclusion to a bonus, I will not be reading any more of her books (just a principle issue for me). However, reading the bonus is absolutely not necessary for the enjoyment of the book.

Josh Gabriel is having trouble writing hit music, and if he doesn’t come up with a new hit record, his label is going to drop him. His manager knows about Hope Marcoux-Evans, a discreet professional wingwoman, and he meets Josh in a bar where he knows Hope will be meeting a client, so he can get a look at her. Josh needs a muse, and he is hoping the Hope can help him to find one. However, once Josh sees Hope, he decides that she is his muse, because he is able to write the lyrics to a partially formed song after just one look. Unfortunately, Hope is not interested in being his muse, but will be happy to help him find one, while she is in town temporarily. Josh has a pattern of writing hit songs after a breakup; he believes that the only way he can write songs that his audience and producers want, is if he gets his heart broken. Thus, he is looking for a muse who will break his heart and allow him to take that anguish and turn it into hit music. Of course, he doesn’t let Hope in on this part of his plan, which leads to the rest of the book…And Hope is wary, after catching her fiancé cheating. He was a Broadway star, and she is finished with letting anonymous fans be more important than her in a relationship.

This story held my interest the entire time I was reading it. It’s compelling enough to make readers want to find out how things will get resolved or even if they will get resolved. Hope is trying to navigate through an emotional minefield with a bunch of new half-siblings that she learned about recently. Additionally, her cheating father is getting remarried—again! He wasn’t much of a father to her when she was younger, and he had two families going at the same time, so she doesn’t have a lot of respect for him. But he finally seems happy, he has quit drinking, and his future wife seems like a reasonable sort of woman. There’s a lot of difficult family dynamics happening in the background of this book, and those details add the emotional gravitas that elevate this story into 5-star territory. There is a lot of heart and heat in this book, and these protagonists are flawed, yet doing the best they can. They are both very likable protagonists surrounded by other likable characters. This is a fun, fast-paced story filled with fascinating family dynamics and introspection about the things that really matter.

Hope's in Texas keeping her head down but also taking on some clients for her wingwoman business, when she catches the eye of a gorgeous country star. Josh needs a muse, some inspiration to complete his upcoming album. He took one look at Hope and started feeling all kinds of things. She. She's the one he wants to be his muse, but she's not about to get involved with another guy like him. How can he get her to see she should be his inspiration? Well, challenging her to find him one, or she take on the role herself, should be the perfect way.

Though Wingwoman is lots of fun, there are heavier threads when Josh's baggage becomes an issue. I appreciated this contrast, and really felt for not just Josh, but even more for Hope when his issues hurt her so much. I do so love it when a damaged hero finds healing and love with a fabulous woman, and Wingwoman is a great example of why I love this trope so much with their witty dialogue, delicious chemistry, and the way they fell so hard for each other.

Wingwoman Review

Couple: Hope Marcoux-Evans & Josh Gabriel

Author: Katana Collins

Tropes: country singer/muse, fake dating, friends to lovers, celebrity romance, found family

Review:  A spicy and swoony worthy fake dating romance! This dual POV romance will make you want to keep reading about these two until the end. The story centers around professional matchmaker Hope and famous singer Josh.

When we meet Hope she is running from her life in New York and seeking refuse with her estranged father before his wedding. I found Hope super relatable and found myself understanding why her character came off as soo aloof at first. When she meets Josh for the first time to say she is not amused would be a humorous understatement, as the book unfolds, I found myself routing for her to break through his defenses and make him see how wrong he was about himself.

Josh on the other hand is a hometown boy who made mistakes in his youth. I found the whole muse and singer/songwriter trope fascinating. My only thing was that Josh was so negative about himself that it made his chapters hard to read at times. However, Katana wrote his development and character super well and made him relatable in a brutally honest way.

The book is slow burn to hot in the spice department and these two have chemistry in spades. I enjoyed their romance and how it progressed to more throughout the book. I also enjoyed how Josh respected Hope’s family and groveled for his mistakes.

Hopefully we get more characters from the world in the future.

Rating: 10/10, these two are swoony!

Wing Woman was a whirl wind of emotions that I did not expect but I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting more of a rom com and instead got a beautiful book about how our parent’s can affect us way more than we expect. I loved finally getting Hope’s book after reading her Beefcake series and it did not disappoint. Hope and Josh were perfect for each other, they knew when to push the other and when to back off, they respected each other and what they wanted, plus they knew how to help each other without even asking.

It took me a minute to love Josh, but when I fell I fell hard. His story was heartbreaking to read especially after learning about his ex girlfriend. His song writing process was interesting and intense but I could see how he felt that way and why he does what he does. While Josh’s story was sad, the conversation’s Hope had with her family had me bawling. I loved how she stood up for herself and found a way to embrace her new family after all the years of trust issues.

Overall loved this book!

Holy emotions!! This book was everything!! Wingwoman can be read as a stand-alone but it ties into her Beefcakes series! I loved getting to know Hope! It was full of witty banter, steam, and definitely had all the feels!

Josh was in a tricky situation, he needed to get an entire album to his label before he lost everything. The problem - he couldn’t write anything. His last hit album came directly after heartbreak, so he thought if he could recreate the heartache, the words would come. He knew Hope could help him, but he had to figure out a way to get her on board before it was too late.

I don’t think I can clearly express how much I loved this book! I was just going to read a chapter before I went to bed but ended up staying up most of the night to finish it. Once I started reading, I was hooked!! Josh and Hope were so easy to fall in love with and the challenges that they faced made them easy to relate to. You don’t want to miss this book! Just have the tissues handy!

This book is "Chef's Kiss" if you are looking for the perfect amount of angst, romance, cuteness, playfulness, and an FMC who doesn't take shit from anyone, I can't say the same about the spice since there's only one scene, but I swear to you that this book is such a smooth sailing it's like you don't even notice the spice, I adored every character in this book apart from freaking Brent, god he needs a punch or two or a couple dozen.

Hope is sassy, takes no shit from no one, and loves her friends and family (by time) kind of girl, she's amazing, did she make mistakes?? yes, did she ask for forgiveness? yes, and the most important part is that she learned from her lessons but she also healed.

Josh is a damn sweetheart and he's also not afraid to spoil his woman the way she deserves, this man gave her a new scarf with every gift, she's his freaking muse and he was willing to lose her just because he thought that he didn't deserve her and omg the stable scene, sweet Jesus.

Katana. Collins. You blew me away with this emotional journey with Josh and Holly. I was not expecting to actually cry 😭. That to me is an amazing thing that writers can do to us readers.

Holly is a professional Wingwomen who helps other women find dates and builds up their confidence. She has had a rough past. Emotional and rough past with her father. She is in Texas when she gets the opportunity to be a muse for a country rockstar.

Josh needs a muse. His music label is demanding a hit album otherwise they’ll drop him. He sees Holly and knows she would be a perfect fit. He needs to fall for her and write his next hit and album.

The journey they both go through is incredible. Katana, the emotions you brought out in Holly with her relationship with her father, I could relate to. Amazing writing. Perfect 😍.

This book was full of laughs, angst, hope, and love! I definitely loved this book. Hope is a professional "wing-woman" and Josh is a famous country musician who needs inspiration for his music. He's looking for his muse and Hope is trying to get rid of her newest client as soon as possible. The banter between these two definitely made this book enjoyable. The more time they spend together, the more they start to realize their own feelings, while they both have to heal from their pasts. There is a lot of heart in this book, neither were perfect, but everything was pieced together beautifully and made me root for their well deserved happily ever after. The journey Hope and Josh had was hard and emotional, but it was perfect in the end.

Wingwoman by Katana Collins is a must read by this author. She has delivered a wonderful rom-com read with a side of a sexy cowboy country star and a no nonsense wingwoman. Hope has caught the eye of Josh Gabriel and he can’t get her out of his head while she is trying to pick herself up from a previous relationship. The chemistry between these two will pull you into this story so fast and keep you reading to see how their story plays out. Both characters seem relatable and real with their own set of problems that we get to be there right along side as they figure out how to deal and hopefully move forward. I love this author’s stories as she writes about lovable characters that I would love to have as my best friends. Plus we get to see some friends from the Beefcake series.

How to tell someone has never been to Austin...

Okay so I really did love the book. It was cute, angsty, and spicy. My favorite.
But Lord... A dry heat? Austin?? It may not be the deep south but the humidity in central Texas is miserable. You're gonna feel like you stepped out of a shower any time you walk outside during the summer.
The only accurate thing about the whole Texas/Western stuff in the book is about the Lucchese.
Austin is beautiful, and full of great food, wonderful people, and amazing music. Come visit, but please don't move here ❤️
The rant aside, absolutely read this book, the writing is fantastic. I know it's a rule that you can't have good smut AND be well written, but I appreciate how much she likes breaking this rule.

This was the first book i ever read by Katana and it did not disappoint!

Our characters are: Josh Gabriel a country musician who needs someone to be his muse or inspiration for the lyrics of his next album and Hope Marcoux-Evans a professional "wingwoman" who helps people find their next love interest.

I love a good opposites attract, and Hope and Josh delivered and then some!

This has everything I want from a romance book. Solid characters with good banter, some emotional baggage that they have to deal with, great supporting characters, and the right amount of spice!

Okay, so I don’t read many country romances, but this one was complete and utter perfection!!! Josh and Hope’s love story was really unconventional, but it was also emotional, deep, and angsty. Josh is a famous country singer who is looking for a “muse” to inspire a new album, and Hope turns out to be exactly what he’s looking for. I loved Josh, he was charismatic and kindhearted, but he was also an extremely complex character with real demons. As for Hope, I thought she was bold and confident, and I loved how she wasn’t afraid to be snarky or sassy. I highly recommend if you love a good slow burn, angsty read!!!

I really enjoy this authors books. They always have a fun aspect to them, and this book is no different.

I loved Josh and Hope's characters. Both had a humorous side to them, but both had emotional baggage to deal with too. Definite chemistry with these two, made you want to keep reading to see how things would turn out. It's a rather complicated storyline with different emotional twists that I would have liked a little streamlined, but overall I loved this book.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.

This was a frustrating and disappointing read. The Texas stereotypes were so over the top it was distracting. The setting would have been better off in Fort Worth versus Austin. There were quite a few plot lines that didn’t get closed. What happened with the rodeo and the horse rescue? What happened with the dads gambling problem besides it getting paid off? It just disappeared. What about Maggie and Matt?? It had a lot of potential but fell flat.

This was an interesting premise for a couple. Josh is sure that his success is based on unhappiness from a breakup. He needs a new “love” who will leave him brokenhearted and he will be able to write some more new hits that will revitalize his career. He thinks that he has found his “muse” in Hope (who thinks that she was hired to find his muse). The journey to get to happiness is an interesting one.

Hope has a usual job where she is the perfect wing woman to set you up on a date or to find you the person of your dreams. Hired by country singer Josh to help him find a muse to break his heart so he can write his next album. Josh and Hope fall into a relationship but secrets from both sides try to derail their newfound love. Sometimes a grand gesture needs to come from both people to make it work. Collins gives us a fresh plotline and great character depth.

2 stars 🌟 this was confusing and honestly more jumbled than i would've liked 🙈 joshhope had something going up until she agreed to be her muse but after that i literally had no idea what was going on 🤕

jenn's random appearance and no explanation on why she was mentally ill, hopes daddy issues that were barely solved in the end, and joshs weird obsession with breaking people's hearts???

it's safe to say that this was very confusing and weird for me 😭

He needs another hit, she needs to get over her heartbreak.
Hope is in Texas, for her father wedding and to get away from heartbreak.
Josh needs to write songs, his manager point him in the direction of Wingwoman. The moment Josh sees Hope, song form in his mind, to bad she doesn't want to be his muse.
What a wonderful storyline, loved Hope and Josh.

Wingwoman

Super cute rom-com with just he right amount of angst. No spoilers and the author's summary covers basics. I liked both h and H a great deal. Hope and Josh both have rough things in their background that color their actions in the present. Told from h and H POV. Can be standalone and has an HEA.

Loved, loved, loved this book!

Josh is a dreamy hero. Hope is an intelligent, feisty woman. Of course, both are damaged by their pasts. The book contained laughs, insightful thoughts, some red hot passion. My only issue is that they didn't solve Josh's problem of how to deal with his father's gambling, something that will most likely continue to plague them.

Country music fans unite!

I had a hard time putting this one down. From fake relationships, to undeniable chemistry, and great characters - I was hooked from the start.

Josh is trying to save his mom's horse rescue, while constantly paying off his dad's gambling debts, which means he needs to make a comeback with his music career.

Hope is a professional wingwoman, teaching women how to be more comfortable, confident, and secure while dating.

A fake relationship that I was rooting for from the beginning, and a genuine friendship with hilarious banter and friendly bets make this a fantastic read!
