The vanhat are within the walls, and mankind’s days are numbered.
Mathison has a desperate plan. A suicide mission. Infiltrate fortress Sol to shut off the defenses long enough for a d-bomb strike to kill the vanhat invaders.
But time is running out as the vanhat close their trap on the Alliance survivors.
The demon Nasaraf has marked their souls for his master, and he is coming to claim them.
Reader, writer, martial artist, US Marine, Veteran, Squad Leader, Team Leader, Saw Gunner, Rifleman, Computer Consultant, Security Officer, Dungeon Master, world traveler, Computer Gamer, dreamer, realist, American and best of all Dad!
Growing up in Europe during the height of the cold war and then serving in a Marine SOC (Special Operations Capable) Battalion during the collapse of Communism provided a lot of life experience and a unique perspective on life and the world. The first novel he read was Jules Vern's 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea' when he was ten and has been reading ever since.
Before the Marines he was a pocket protector wearing nerd, after the Marines he held jobs as a Security officer/Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant and other odd specialized jobs like body guard or surveillance, and ended up brushing off the pocket protector to become a Computer Consultant.
These days he dreams of quitting his day job as a computer consultant to work full time as a writer and dad.
Another great installment in the saga. Plenty of plot twists and great action. Totally did not see how they were going to resolve things before it happened. Highly recommended!
JARHEADS v ZOMBIES v OTHER MONSTERS THAT EAT YOUR FACE
It’s a good series. If you are a veteran most of the jokes will get you to chuckle. If you are a Jarhead then you’ll laugh until you spit beer in a couple of places. Well worth your time. #Rah
Well that was a great storyline with plenty of action and blood and guts lol. Great ending but there is still the problem Becket and the rogue AI to be dealt with. Hopefully there will be a follow-up
Few books make me shout " F@#K N A", out loud. Or have tears streaming down my face. This series had me doing that. I'll be looking for more of this authors books.
Heavy spoiler ahead so skip if you want. My god. This book was awesome. I've thoroughly enjoyed the entire series, but this one hit a lot harder. Think the ending of Infinity War. Just a gut punch. Mathison and the Marines have to split up to sneak into the Sol system. The team that heads to Earth meets the President, who's borderline insane after hundreds of years of hiding. Everyone gets an SCBI against their will, but they're able to take advantage of that fairly quickly. And then they fight an actual dragon. Just when you thought the monsters couldn't get any worse, in flies a freakin dragon. The rest of the team stays in space and fights a horrific battle against the vanhat. Think D-Day mixed with Event Horizon. Levin leads a team onto Nasaraf's ship and manages to take him out, but at a huge cost. It was sad reading Levin falling. I had hoped he would get some more time, but there's plenty of hints that even though he's dead, there's more in store for him. He's revealed to be the Knight who has been protecting Sif in her dreams. Navinad leads a fleet to come in at the last minute and save the day. More hints that there's more to him than meets the eye. I have very strong suspicion of his real identity, but it's too soon to tell. Finally, Mathison and co make it to the moon and face off against the SOG Central Committee. Despite more betrayals, twists, turns, and fights you van shake a stick at, Mathison, Stathis, and Feng survive and take over. Cue Emperor Mathison. Absolutely cannot wait to see what's next. There's still plenty of loose threads to tie up. Almost forgot, Stathis drops an Elmer Fudd line while fighting the dragon and I almost fell out of my chair laughing.
I think this book ended too early and easily. I actually enjoyed the series but it ended and I just wasn’t satisfied. I know the author said he would write other books to fill in the blanks at the end so I hope I’m not being overly critical but he at least needed to resolve what happened with the us president. He could have resolved part of it at least and then finished the whole tale at a later date but now we are just hanging and disappointed.
Excellent. This story line comes to an end, albeit there are still many loose ends to cover and lots of other tales to be told. You will have lots of action, moments of laughter, moments of sadness, surprises.
I won't say more, as I dno't want to spoil anything.
Just saying it was a very enjoyable read and I am looking forward to more stories in this universe.
I don't want this to end! I'm too emotionally invested to say goodbye! Seriously, this series should have way more attention than it does. Beautifully written, with the perfect balance of action and description. Unique characters, believable villains... Also, I absolutely want an SCBI lol
Better book on tactics ever read. Can we please have The Gunnery here instead of what we now have! What a better USA! EVERY CHARACTER WAS PERFECT. The chapters could US a litter better coming in the first two, but all in all most thrilling book I have had the great fortune to read. Hope to see more this cannot be the End.
After years, our Marines have come home. They kicked some ass and took names. I am sorry to see this series of books come to an end!!! And I have so many questions left to have answered.
I will find myself looking for this author to read more of his stories. I recommend these book
The end of the story and it was quite a ride. The very end of the book seemed a little rushed but maybe it was just I knew i was coming to the end. Highly recommended. As i ended each book kept thinking I would take a break and read something else yet kept coming back to see where the story went.....and of course to keep a little Stathis in my life.
The series was interesting. It would make a good show, say ten episode streaming service series. Not sure if continuing adventure of a planetary reconstruction team would be as good.
Great fun but there were a couple of loose ends that it would have been nice to have tied up. I would have liked to know Navinad’s full story and what happened to him. The NMDF should have been there at the end.
I really enjoyed this series. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys true Science Fiction. It made me hate to have to stop reading it long enough to take care of the real world.
If your reading this review you are five books and are just as hooked me. So stop reading pointless reviews and grab a Beveridge and a comfy chair and get stuck in.
