Hollywood Secrets

Rate this book
At forty-six, Adelaide Atwood could feel her career slipping away. Younger actresses were getting roles that she was used to being offered.
Ada's not ready to call time on her acting career though. She'd given up so much to get here.
Sydney Lockett might have had a late start compared to many of her fellow actors, but at thirty years old, she'd been crowned the highest-paid actress with her name regularly mentioned in the same sentence as some of the best actresses like Adelaide Atwood.
Sydney had always done things her way, unwilling to hide who she was, knowing that if she was talented enough, it wouldn't matter that she was gay.
Sydney had everything she'd dreamt of, everything except a relationship that lasted more than a few weeks.
They shared the same agent and the same dreams, but while Sydney had always been out, Ada couldn't be any further in the closet.
Ada views them as rivals.
Sydney thinks Ada is the most beautiful woman she's ever seen.
Tempers flare. Sparks fly.
Do they really have a chance?

A short story that I would have loved to have more depth. I enjoyed it as a short but was left wanting more, not that it was a cliffhanger at all, but it would have been nice to spend more time with the characters. Moreish!

Ada is a 40-something very closeted Hollywood legend who's worried that she'll no longer be offered top parts. She's envious of Sydney, a 30 year old up-and-coming star who is an out lesbian. She finally agrees to meet Sydney for dinner and the mutual attraction is intense. But Ada isn't remotely ready to come out and she knows that will not be fair to Sydney.

I'm usually of the opinion that most long books I read could have been shorter. But now, having read two novellas, including this one, I'm also of the opinion that short books would have been better off longer. Obviously figuring out the best length for a story is something authors need to figure into their planning, especially with regard to character development and plotting.

In this book, things are proceeding well, but then there's a 3 year gap and a rushed ending. The book would have been better if there was more.

Fun.

I am a complete mess when it comes to getting my happily ever after. This filled the bill with a few twists and turns to tying up the loose ends at the end. Enjoyable read that I know you’ll enjoy.

I really enjoyed this first book in the series! My only complaint is that I wish there were more to it. I was so immersed that I didn’t realize I was 90+% finished. I want to know so much more about these two. Regardless, looking forward to book two and Kerri’s story!

Romantic and amazing story

I am a huge fan of Carol Wyatt books every time I am waiting for her next one and the next one. She is a master of aging gap stories and the way she describes her characters and their emotions is like you are there with them observing every single moment and struggle of their lives. Beautiful story with romance, intense scenes, realistic dialogues and a happy ending. What more to ask from a book…. Excellent!!!

4 stars. At this point Carol Wyatt is just a guaranteed hit for me. I’ve yet to be let down or disappointed in any of her books and this was no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will never get tired of romances between actresses especially if there is an age gap and one of them is in the closet. Yes, that’s super specific but I love it. Ada and Sydney were both really likable characters and I loved their chemistry. My only gripe about this is the three year time jump. It seemed unnecessary and didn’t really add anything important to the overall story but the ending was sweet so it was fine. Overall, a great read with a sweet romance.

Sweet and Honest!

Carol Wyatt always gets to the heart of a conscience. Hollywood Secrets are just that. Secrets. People who are afraid of being themselves. Even in todays world there is an underlying belief that keep your true self buried if you want to make it. Even though there are many out their living their lives out no everyone has that strength and support system that is needed. This book was a great reminder that it starts with how you see yourself.

Ending too rushed 3.5 stars

I usually always enjoy lesbian romances that feature Hollywood actresses. Unfortunately , there was very little behind the scenes on set. The two main characters are appealing, but I would have enjoyed it more if the author had spent more pages on their getting to know one another. The ending was super rushed and we never saw what Ada had been doing or feeling. Thus, a 3.5 rating rounded up.

A fairly straightforward if not a bit cliche hollywood love story.

The MCs are good but the chemistry was better! Spectacular honestly.

I can’t decide whether I’d classify this as instalove or slowburn tho. The time jumps, for me, are a bit unnecessary. Could have done more buildup instead.

A bit underdeveloped imo but with how short it was, I guess it was understandable. Nonetheless, it was still an entertaining read.

These two MCs were fun and I liked the premise but the short length of the book left the plot feeling a bit stunted. I like Wyatt's books but they'd be a lot better if the plot, relationship and characters had a bit more time to develop. The instant love followed by break up and a three year gap and a rushed HEA resolution in the last few pages gave me a bit of whiplash.

Viva Los Angelos

Adelaide Atwood is the top of the acting elite of Hollywood. Sydney is a new star, an out and proud lesbian, who starred in the remake of the movie that made Ada famous. When they meet it was an electric moment. Will Ada be courageous enough to acknowledge to the world that she is gay? A story of love and promise.

An age gap romance for the ages full of love, sacrifice, fear, honesty and joy. Throw in a heaping amount of sexy scenes and you have all the elements for a great and satisfying story.

there was a lot of potential here but the plot was excessively rushed just to go in circles, I don’t like to leave bad reviews but this was so unsatisfying to read

3.5 stars . Easy read but a bit of an abrupt ending in my opinion. I was expecting an epilogue of some sorts.
