With rampant piracy and corruption bringing the human colony in the Hydra solar system to the brink of collapse, decorated ex-Alliance Navy officer, Eli Saffinger, is hired to protect a freighter that could single-handedly revitalize the young, fragile civilization.
Knowing the inevitable consequence of escorting such valuable cargo, Saffinger prepares to confront the most ruthless and dangerous privateer in the southern Messier region - a mission that many have undertaken but none have survived.
10,000 word first installment in The Outer Pendulum Saga
Slava Heretz is the author of the epic science fiction saga, The Outer Pendulum.
In his lifetime Slava Heretz will never see the far reaches of space. He will most likely never venture to the depths of the Marianna Trench. And he will certainly never invent the time machine or transporter. But he dreams. And these dreams, well they become a reality in the magnificent world of science fiction. That is why he writes.
Corsair (Outer Pendulum, Part 1) is a quick read. The story itself is not bad, I just feel that it was rushed and had minimal detail. This story it worthy to read on a short bus/car/train trip and will certainly help pass some time, However I would not go out of my way to find this book. I do respect the courage to start the story off with dialogue, but in good conscience I can not rate this higher than 2 out of 5.
