The last thing Dash Wheaton expects when his home goes up in flames is to catch his firefighter rescuer’s heart.
When computer security expert Dash wakes to his house on fire, he manages to escape, but realizes his dog, Taffy, is still inside. Heartbroken, he watches everything he has burn, worrying about Taffy, until a firefighter hero shows up with her, covered in soot. With his home gone and no place to go, Dash does his best to find shelter.
Firefighter Stone Jacobs lives for his job, and his life is ordered just the way he likes it. So when he finds Dash sleeping in a shed, he’s as surprised as anyone when he offers him a place to stay. But what he really doesn’t expect is the way Dash gets under his skin and into his heart.
When the fire is ruled as arson, suspicion falls on Dash, making it even harder for him to move forward. Thankfully, Stone believes in his innocence and helps Dash begin to rebuild his life and business. Time together leads to white-hot attraction and trust, but the truth behind the fire could separate them... permanently
To be honest I liked the first book of the Heroes in Helmets more, but this was not a terrible book. The two main characters were very different from one another. The mutual attraction each experienced was too strong to be denied. But the conflicts and suspicions kept them from forming a loving bond because the one character was hurt that the other protagonist would think him capable of committing crimes. I think I was also kind of turned off by all the computer jargon spoken about and actions performed on the computer. The fireman was a good guy who was drawn to firefighting for the camaraderie and the desire to help others. He was such a good guy that when he began to question the honesty of his lodger that put the breaks on any romance that was brewing between the two.
I really loved the little dog Taffy. She acted as a support animal to the one character that suffered from anxiety. Her antics were amusing and she was an all around good girl, as well as being a loving companion. At least one of the firemen from the first book of the series made an appearance in this book. He was a good friend who acted as a sounding board for the confused lead fireman in this book. This was a quick read and otherwise entertaining story. There is always an element of fear when someone is in a relationship with a fireman because firefighting is a dangerous career. And this fear is compounded when the other person involved in a relationship with a fireman is a survivor of a disastrous fire in their own home. I would recommend this book, but I would tell you to make sure you read the first book (I look forward to reading it especially if more books are released in this series).
Like all Andrew Grey stories, this one has characters with issues that they have to get through in order to get to the HEA ending. The attraction between Dash and Stone is immediate and moves quickly from hot looks to hot sex. Dash loses his home (rented) in a fire and has nothing left. Stone takes him in to help him out and the two form a fast relationship, but Stone has his doubts about the cute computer specialist - after all, the guy works in the shadows and can do anything he wants with computers. For his part, every time Stone gets called out to a fire, Dash worries about the hunky fireman. The two eventually get past their issues and into a relationship that works for them—and Dash’s hyperactive dog Taffy.
This is a short (only 98 pages), quick read that will leave you smiling as the two men settle into their HEA ending.
Recommendation: If you love Andrew Grey’s short novellas, you’ll love this one. Pick up the entire series.

A sweet, fun read featuring a super hot firefighter and a computer geek - yes please! And that's exactly what Andrew Grey delivers with this book. It's a quick read but it will definitely leave you with a smile on your face. Stone and Dash are very likeable guys and so easy to root for. They have great chemistry and you can feel the genuine love that builds between them.
I enjoyed their story, again it's a quick one, but there's a lot going on here! These two meet in dramatic circumstances, Dash's house is on fire, he barely escapes and Stone is a firefighter on scene who rescue's his dog and with nowhere to go Stone offers his spare room to Dash as a safe place to stay. These two easily become friends with definite attraction and more brewing but when Dash's house fire investigation comes back arson both men have to question what really happened.
I definitely liked this book, it was an easy afternoon type read that entertained me from start to finish. I loved the relationship that develops between them and how natural it felt and how they opened up to each other. They both have moments of doubt and questioning their situation but by opening up they learn to trust each other. Overall, it's a feel good book and a great addition to this series.
This story doesn't have a child involved but there is a dog. Stone, a fireman, saves a small dog from a house fire for a distraught Dash, whose whole life has gone up in flames.
After Dash has nowhere to go, Stone brings him home. Trust is nearly lost when Stone finds out that basically Dash is a hacker and the fire was suspect. Plus another fire is set in the same way and someone hacker the fire suppression system where the fire was.
Stone has fallen for Dash and believes he had nothing to do with the fires, but is still not sure. Dash is so good at his job of hiring out his talents to stop cyber criminals, that Stone is unsure what he isn't capable of, but Stone's heart and libido just can't stop wanting Dash.
In the end--HEA--and the firebug is caught at Stone's home just as they arrive from a hike and picnic in the nearby woods and lake.
Heroes in Helmets #2 A Firefighter and the Computer expert...
Stone Jacobs, Firefighter, a muscled hunk, kind and strong. Dash, a thin computer geek, with his dog Taffy.
Great characters, and the dog is terrific. Our men meet when Dash's house goes up in flames, and Taffy is saved by Stone. Dash knows he didn't start the fire, but who did?
He has no where to go, until Stone invites him home and help. The men eventually sizzle in bed, and otherwise they get Dash's life back a bit at a time.
We have the mystery of the arsonist, and when another place has the same type of clues, Dash is questioned again. We get deep conversations, thought-filled times, caring, and solutions. Luckily, Dash can use his computer skills to help find the bad guy.
A fire burns most of Dash's home up and he has no where to go. He's saved from sleeping in a shed by Stone the firefighter who helped him and saved his dog.
Stone takes them in and helps Dash put his life back together. I thought Dash's job was really cool and he also helps the cops figure out who is behind not just his fire bit another.
They grow closer and when book ends they going to Dash's family for Thanksgiving. I was happy with this so much and wasn't any couple drama that kept them apart which is always a plus. Jordan and Duane from book one made an appearance too.
As with all Andrew Grey books this has Wonderful, likable characters, a sweet dog that I’m happy has a big appearance in the store and a sweet romance with a happy ending.
This one starts with excitement as Dash’s home catches fire and he loses everything and his dog is rescued by a hunky fireman. Having nowhere to go Stone brings Dash and Taffy home until he can sort insurance and get a place to stay.
It was a fun, quick read. The attraction was instant and, honestly, so were the feelings it seemed. To me, it felt a bit rushed. One guy just lost everything and dealing with being suspected of arson and suddenly there are feelings for his rescuer. I guess it can happen that way but it seems more Stockholm Syndrome than real love. That said, I did enjoy the characters. I love that one was buff and handsome while the other was slim and nerdy. I do love that dynamic.
It's wrong to do something illegal, but to change to do something legally to help businesses protect their computer systems from being hacked, That's commendable. It's hard for people to trust the person doing the job of providing that computer protection. No wonder Dash was so defensive and blunt to law enforcement. Thank goodness Stone has Dash's back. THANK YOU ANDREW! ENJOY!
Another strong story from Andrew Grey. This one introduced Dash who wakes up to find his house on fire being rescued by Stone a local firefighter who works with Jason who we were introduced to in the first book in this series. Stone saves both Dash and his dog Taffy in more ways than one, and Dash learns to trust again after being accused of committing arson. Very good pace and the story rollicks along as the mystery is resolved.
A well crafted storyline supported by good character development and a plot which avoids being overly dramatic. There are enough accurate details from each MC, to provide balance and interest blending this firefighter and computer hacker into a couple well deserving their HEA.
When your are disown on your luck but you outsmart the bad guy.
Firefighter rescues Dash and his dog. The are literally left with nothing. This is a great story about life stacks the deck against you, do you keep your core values or cave? Do you give up Or push through and grab your dream. MM romance
Running into that fire to save a dog was the best move Stone made, because along with the dog came Dash. The thought of Dash sleeping in a shed didn't sit well with him so Stone offered him a room in his house, that was the beginning of their journey together. CUTE COUPLE!!😍😍
Fire man's rescue is a great book. The story is riveting, moderately paced and once one begins you don't want to stop reading until completion. If anything negative is to be said it would be the book wasn't long enough. I definitely recommend this book!
That The Geek Of His Life saved and His dog lived To Have Two Dad's that Loved her. But most of all the Computer guy Won His Way into A life Of love and Cleared his Name and won the Love of His life Hero
Dash is out of a home and other things because of a fire. Stone saves Dash's dog from the house fire. Stone, a firefighter, sees Dash more than a computer geek but tries to hold back his feelings. But for how long?
This was amazing book kept me wanting more. I think others will like it to It was intense i was so focused on reading and then the end was there i want more
