If you've already read some books in the Jason Strange series, you know the teens who live in Ravens Pass are frequently exposed to supernatural threats. But what happens when out-of-towners fall into the trap? Fourteen-year-old Jack Kipping and his seventeen-year-old brother Paul, along with fourteen-year-old Zeek Harbage and thirteen-year-old Nelson Robs, are returning home from a fun weekend at the lake when their car runs out of gas near the outskirts of Ravens Pass. No problem; Paul will hike to a gas station down the road and bring some back. Not long after he leaves, the other guys get restless and accidentally lock themselves out of the car in a sudden rainstorm. Soaking wet, they meet a guy their age named Caleb, but he's a strange personality. Why is he so eager for the full moon that will rise tonight? The guys distance themselves from Caleb, but their vague unease is forgotten when a real-life werewolf attacks. Is there a safe place to take refuge in the woods? And what if the werewolf has killed Paul?

Jack, Zeek, and Nelson stumble onto a house in the middle of the woods. The people who live there—fourteen-year-old Luna and her grandmother—are surprised to get visitors. The boys decide not to tell about the werewolf, but Luna is smart; when she pieces together what's going on, she encourages Jack, Zeek, and Nelson to withhold the truth from her grandmother. The older woman agrees to drive them down to Gary's Gas and see if Paul can be found. Will the boys locate their friend so they can fuel up the car and escape Ravens Pass, or are they tangling themselves further in a conspiracy destined to lead straight into the teeth of a flesh-eating beast? Supernatural magic is what got them into trouble, and may be the only thing that can save them. Will Jack, Zeek, Nelson, and Paul live to tell of their brush with a lycanthrope...or was their fate sealed the moment they entered Ravens Pass?

Compared to other Jason Strange adventures, Full Moon Horror is less than satisfactory. The writing feels threadbare, and often lazy; all books in the series are short and thus have limited space for detailed story, but most handle the limitations better than this one. The internal logic never completely collapses, but that isn't quite enough to save Full Moon Horror from being below average. Even illustrator Alberto Dal Lago, whose work I usually love, fails to impress in these pages. Nonetheless, I give the book one and a half stars and could round to two. It's an acceptable diversion, as long as you don't go in with high expectations.

it only gets 2 stars because it was so bad to the point of being funny. Super predictable and the writing sucked.
Discussion questions at the end of this book:
What was the creepiest part of this book? Explain your answer.
My answer: the fact that this book got published. 😁

Maybe I'm not even giving this a fair rating, because in all honesty I scaled the young adult section (how did this book end up there??? What about this book is 'young adult', this is like for 9 year olds) for the cringiest looking book I could find, and I mean, I got what I asked for!

I like this book because it was disturbing. Nelson, Zeek and Jack are friends. Jack's brother, Gary, took them for a road trip. They were returning home when they ran out of gas in Raven's Pass. Gary walked to the gas 1 mile up road. Nelson, Zeek and Jack were waiting in the car and it was hot. They decided to cool down by getting out and the car doors locked behind them just as it started pooring rain. They found a bridge to hid under for shelter. The were wolf, Caleb, asked if he could join them. Caleb was talking about how he loves the full moon. The three friends got in a circle and started talking about how they thought Caleb was strange. Nelson told Caleb that it was a full moon. As they looked to see Caleb, they discovered he had disappeared. Then Caleb appeared in front of them in Were Wolf form.
All three friends and Gary got away using the gas that Gary bought.
I thought the book was scarey, that was good.

Excellent horror book for kids! My son (8) has been asking for scary stories but they can be hard to find for kids his age. I’ve read two books by Jason strange and they are perfect for him. Scary but not too scary and nothing inappropriate for his age.

Good elements of surprise used in this book. About boys who come across a werewolf when they run out of gas on a full moon night.

Not the best of Jason Strange, but not your typical werewolf story.

Full moon horror is a interesting book because Their is this kids that were going to a swimming lesson but their car breaks down. A rain storm begins. A stranger runs to the gas station to get some gas but he never comes back. So his friends stayed in the car but it was to hot so they got off the car and lock the door and stayed in out side. So they were out side and a storm was going to happen and it started to rain very hard. So they started to run to a cave and stay there. So then their was a kid running so they called him so the strange stayed with him.

So when the moon come the stranger started to turn into a werewolf and started to chase the kids. So the kids were scared and found a house and went inside the house. The people inside the house were bad guys and kidnap the kids. The guys were putting the kids in a cage next to a werewolf so the kids were scared and started to fight with the guys and the kids escaped. So the kids got the gas and put it in the car and left back home.
