The 1960s adventures of Green Lantern continue in this new volume reprinting his stories in their original order of publication. Included are the story of Green Lantern's oath, a battle with Sinestro, a guest-appearance by The Flash and the debut of the villainous Sonar.
This collection includes the first appearance of Star Sapphire, and very little else of note. John Broome is struggling with credible ways to weaken, incapacitate, or just plain *lose* the Power Ring and generate some real jeopardy. Gil Kane's art is splendid as always, and carries the feature: Nothing else looks like a Green Lantern comic.
so disappointing, the gardner fox stories were okay, but didn't care for john broome's. in one story the president of a tiny european country sends a letter to pieface (hal jordan's mechanic) begging him to contact g.l. because his country is in serious danger and it would take to long to contact the united nations. he knows of pieface's connection to the lantern because g.l. stopped in that country for a collectible postage stamp for pieface. but phoning the u.n. in switzerland would have taken too long. and g.l. can't get some bad guys because they went into a barn painted entirely yellow. i started reading the lantern's stories when they were six page back-ups in the flash's comicbook and really fell for the character when i got the back issues w/tomar-re, then the g.l./g.a. issues. but these just make me sad
