Very cool book that tells of some of the places talked about in Agatha Christie's books. Enjoyable read even when you're not planning a vacation!

I imagine much, if not all, of the information in this book is outdated by now, but it was a pleasant read that gave a glimpse of locations around England and elsewhere that inspired Agatha Christie's novels.

Interesting overview of places in Britain associated with Agatha Christie and her novels. My only complaint is I wish it had been longer and provided more details about her life and the novels intertwined with the places.

In honor of Agatha Christie's upcoming birthday and to fulfill a travel theme for one of my groups here, I read this enjoyable travel book about the places that Agatha Christie lived and/or loved, and some that were used in her stories. This book will appeal to both Christie fans planning a trip to England and armchair travellers. It is organized into themes, such as all the places that Christie lived in London, Torquay, trains (did you know that some cars from the Orient Express are used for some British trips at certain times of the year?), etc. At the end of each chapter is a list of Christie works mentioned in the chapter, as well as contact information for the various sites. A few of the chapters do not involve particular sites, such as one on locations abroad that Christie used. At the end are suggested day-by-day itineraries for trips to England, for a seven-day and a 21-day visit. I would love to do the 21-day trip! It covers virtually everything. The book does a great job of making the connections between locations found in Christie's work and how those locations were significant in her own life. Although the copyright is 1999, none of the contact information includes websites, and some information may be out of date - I believe that Greenway House, near Torquay, is now open to the public. But if you are a Christie fan, this is a fun read!
