Pretty smooth movie tie-in book. My least favorite in the franchise, still decent in its own right.

8 years ago Andy's good guy doll was possessed by Charles Lee Ray a serial killer with a liking to strangling throats. The doll making company nearly went bankrupt. Now they were willing to make good guy dolls again. Now Chucky is back and he wants Andy. Chucky wants to play swap the souls. The CEO of the toy company thought Andy was crazy, no way a doll could come alive. Well dickhead, wanna play? Chucky smashes a golf club into the CEO forehead. Now you believe dickhead. Chucky now boxed and sent to Andy who is now16 years old and at military school. Chucky is on the loose having fun, putting a garbage man into his truck. Squashed. Chucky is so scary a man has a heart attack on sight. Chucky slashes a throat, the victim thought it was a paper cut until the blood oozed down his body. Ade due damballa . Chucky needs to transfer his soul into a body. Chucky pumps bullets into cops heads, explodes grenades but Andy will unload copious amounts of bullets into his head. Im chucky, wanna play. Finally good a copy of this.

I'm a huge fan of the Child's Play series, and I absolutely love this book. It defers quite a bit from the movie in whole scenes and dialogue but it's for the better. They should of made the movie based around this book. My favorite part of the book has to be the beginning. The birth of Chucky is a lot more eerie in the book. I think it's interesting adding the thoughts of Chucky but in a way, to me at least, it kind of took away from it for me. But if your a fan of the series I definitely recommend you read this book. It will add to your Chucky fandom.

I'd say this is maybe slightly better than the film. The ending feels like it has a bit more hinting at closure for the protagonists, and also a more interesting tease for the possible return of Chucky. But instead of Andy and Kristen thinking of helping corroborate Tyler's account, we just see Andy get taken away. And instead of the description of blood and plastic, we get a weird shot of someone picking up trash at the fair. Something else I noticed is that, at the moment where movie Chucky thinks Andy and Kristen kissing is cute, book Chucky thinks about pushing them over the cliff. It's more sinister, but I think his reaction in the film is more true to the character as we've come to know him, comedy and whatnot.

This book also reaffirms my belief that there is no two-year gap between the first two films like many say, as it is stated at the start that Charles Lee Ray has been dead for over eight years. If anything, Andy's age was retconned, as it is said he was eight during the events of the first film and that he's sixteen now. But since people know very well that the first film is Andy's sixth birthday, they throw in a two-year gap to make the age sixteen thing make sense. But to me it makes less sense that Child's Play 2 doesn't pick up sooner after the first film. The book also says Chucky was Andy's Christmas present, weirdly enough.
