Reading for the Future is hosting the first David Lee Powell writing contest at the combined Westercon 67/CONduit 24, July 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah

The contests sometimes use photographs or other artwork. Jay Steinke's book is just what I want.

Pre-K to 12th grade students may use a photo for the student’s creative writings. PreK and Kindergarten write a poem titled I WILL BE BACK ; 1st through 3rd a poem using a telephone number (0 = 10; all other numbers the numbers value in either words or sentences); 4th – 6th speculative fiction or science article ; junior high review a sf movie or novel; and high school a longer sf fiction or article.

Students may receive a book or sfcon membership. Each entry may earn at least one book or up to three sf memberships.
