For over 200 years, Florence was at the heart of the Italian Renaissance. In this sumptuous volume, the authors chart the flowering of the extraordinary artistic achievement of the Renaissance through the architecture, sculpture, and paintings of Florence. Over 170 color photos.
It's not the worst art book I've ever seen though, but it did not wow me either. I wish there was more information about the artworks, but if you are only looking for brief summaries about art then this is a good book to add to your collection. There isn't much about pagan themes in it though, so if you are into all-antica artwork then you will be disappointed. Also, the index isn't very helpful.
I think it's worth checking out if you just want to flip through some information if you are just trying to see if there will be a lot of information on a piece, because you are writing a research paper. I'm glad I was only borrowing it from the library though, since it didn't help me too much.
