Winner, winner, chicken dinner! The one book I have read (and I do go through them, page by page) that makes my list of "must have" books. Lots of interesting information on designing gardens and suggested plant combos, and a commitment to organic soil improvement and fertilization.
Rodale's No-Fail Flower Garden: How to Plan, Plant, and Grow a Beautiful, Easy-Care Garden by Barbara W. Ellis (Rodale Press Inc. 1994)(635.9) is a thorough introductory book which covers all aspects of home gardening albeit in a cursory fashion. I highly recommend this book to the beginning gardener. My rating: 6.5/10, finished 4/30/12.
