This book was one of the best books I've ever read in my entire life, and I normally do not like really any books, but this one was really, really good. Just everything about it was awesome. It had me biting my nails constantly. It was a bit confusing at time especially in the beginning because it started when John krakauer and the others that made it, were at the summit of Everest. Then it went on about the history of Everest and then it got to all the action, so I'd say the beginning was a little boring, but the rest was unbelievable. I have never climber Everest before, but after reading this book, I feel like I have. Every single page of the book was nail biting, and so intense. I would absolutely recommend this book to pretty much anyone, especially an adventurist. There so many scary and intense moments in this book, so if your in to that kind of stuff, definitely read this book. Also if your interested in everast this book is pretty much perfect for you. It tells you the history and how it's like climbing it. This is the first book I've read by John krakauer but definitely not the last. This book tells everything you would need to know about everast. It even shows the trail that they took to climb the mountain. John krakauer is a truly amazing writer to me. His use of sensory and setting detail in this book was outstanding, I mean I really could picture what it was like climbing the mountain. Overall an amazing and great book to read.

Following the 2014 tragedy on Everest, When an avalanche caused the deaths of so many Sherpas, I felt compelled to read Into Thin Air once again. If I thought I would find the reason why men and women need to climb this and other mega-mountains, I was disappointed. I simply do not understand the desire to stand on top of the world. Check that: I understand the desire, but it would never do what one must do to get there and back safely.

I found the beginning a bit confusing when they introduced so many people in such a short time. I loved getting insight into what motivates people to put themselves through torture, sacrifice their most important relationships and put their lives on the line. The drive to climb Mt.Everest seems similar to addiction. This was a heart breaking and captivating read.

Into thin air by Jon Krakauer.
An account of a daring attempt to climb mount Everest when conditions were not good. Well written to give the reader a feeling of the pain and hardship endured by the climbers, these excursions will continue as long as the mountains are there and lives will be endangered and lost. It is hard to explain the incredible urge to conquer the mountain.

Good. I would have organized the book differently. But I would read more by this author. Audio.
