A richly illustrated study of the life and work of Thomas Kinkade provides an intimate retrospective of two decades of inspirational artwork, tracing the various periods in the artist's career, from his earliest days to his rise to critical and commercial success, and showcasing never-before-seen private photographs and paintings. 70,000 first printing.
Thomas Kinkade was known as the "Painter of Light." His works, although spurned by the secular art establishment, were very popular with Christians and many others.
Have always been intrigued by Kinkade's work. I have gotten into painting myself of late so I pulled this book off my shelf and read up about this prolific artist. I also flagged many of the paintings in the book that I will use to inform my own work in the future
Beautiful artwork, but the book feels repetitive and a bit surface-level. I enjoyed flipping through the paintings more than reading the commentary. Worth it for fans, but not very engaging overall.
Good background on Kincade's early years and his artistic development as a young man onwards. Excellent full colour pictures of many of his works. As it only covers 20 years, it does cover until the end of his life in 2012.
