The Japanese Woman: Traditional Image and Changing Reality

Rate this book
In a contemporary study of women in Japan, Sumiko Iwao (psychology, Keio U., Tokyo) shows that these women are not the submissive females typically portrayed, but rather that they hold positions equal to and sometimes more powerful than those of men. This book is something that I firmly believe anyone should read. Wether you're young or old, a man or a woman, a teen or an adult, this book will change your perspective not only about the Japanese woman and her relationships, but also about the way women are treated in society in general. It is written in a style which is very easy to understand, doesn't use too much of a complex jargon and most importantly, there are fragments of actual intervies and statistcs. And to top it all off, the book is written from the perspective of a woman, so there is no judgement or anything like that in it.

Don't mind my reading time, it doesn't take a week. I just had a lot of reading besides this book. It taks four days at max.

Nice way to understand the different reality of the japanese woman and how year by year the influence of the western world is changing the behavior and perception of women in Japan.
