As someone who has been bullied, this was an important book for me to read. It helped me work through some of my feelings, and my anger. I am thinking of having it sent to my former supervisor and/or the COO who also played a part in the entire bullying experience.
It is nice to know that in some places around the world, bullying is recognized in the nursing profession and steps are being taken to stop the cycle.
This book lives at a massive intersection of female interpersonal conflict and toxic workplaces. As someone who studies the impact of toxic workplaces on healthcare in veterinary medicine - which is also an increasingly feminized profession - though this has occurred over a much shorter time scale - it is interesting to see some of the similarities and differences between the professions here. Great information, good citations, and practical exercises for individuals to do. With some modification, it could be adapted to veterinary teams.
Excellent. It's amazing how nurses can be so horrible to each other but learning the reasons behind it will help me deal with it in the future. Many relevant worksheets and the resources that are shared are invaluable.
There is a well-known issue with nurses bullying other nurses. It is said "nurses eat their young." This book explains horizontal violence and what one can do to break the cycle.
