1. Templeton Twins have an idea, by Ellis Weiner copyright 2012. Twin text for celebration of inventors nonfiction set.
2. My rationale for selecting this text is for the extensive list of big and small inventors of history. Comparing these great successful scientists and inventors to the twins may be stretching it a bit. Do you think any of these great inventors had any failure? Do you think they tried something first that was a flop? Do these great inventors still have to have dreams? Ask questions? Read? Investigate their world?
3. This nonfiction selection provides a chronological sequence of inventions and inventors from the beginning of time. Each invention is given a description in factual text and high quality pictures.
4. For a strategy to apply for this text, I would engage students in using a comparison of the Venn Diagram or KWL to help students see a connection between the inventors. A problem solution or cause and effect structure could be used to compare the reason for the inventions in the text. I would have a combination of these patterns to organize the information for this text. What are some of the similar characteristics of these inventors and Einstein? or the twins? Do you have those qualities in you? Could you continue on even after you fail?
