Some good ideas. At times it felt like they were trying to stuff too much into too small a space. I also skipped/skimmed much of the religious-based sections/chapters as well as most of the yoga-related parts. Yoga is just not my thing. That said, I liked that they tried to be inclusive of different traditions (though one chapter was devoted to Christianity while another to 'everyone else' and it was not 'everyone' by a long stretch). Again, the book offers some good ideas. I will return it to the library with appreciation and satisfaction that I had a chance to go through it but no desire to buy my own copy.
The first third of the book dealt with mindfulness, and was worth reading. The rest dealt with yoga, prayer, and things like aroma/crystal/color therapy, which was not what I went in to this book expecting, and really didn't want to be proselytized about. But, hoping that there were some good bits similar to the first third of the book, I trudged through the book to the end. Nothing more of use I could find. So, if you want a good book about mindfulness, you can find a third of one here.
It felt like this book was trying to sell me on meditation and yoga. Maybe that is part of it's purpose, but I didn't care for it. It had an odd blend of selling and instructing that I didn't feel went together. It just didn't resonate with me overall. That said, I really did enjoy the meditation techniques in the book.
A little gem of a book. Perfect for stimulating those moments of mindfulness that will enrich your life. Keep it by your bedside and spend 5 minutes a night with it! Delightful!
