Since Wheelis published this book in 1971 about man's ever-evolving relationship to knowledge, surely many have expressed similar sentiments. But you will find few who write about mankind's search for truth in such a memorably poetic fashion. Wheelis cuts through the modern history of science in just a few pages, telling the tale of how our search for ultimate truth says much more about us than about the world which we find before us.
