Although I always wanted to be a writer, financial independence came first. Twenty-some years and a successful business career later I took some online writing classes and never looked back.
Living and working in eight countries has taught me that there is more than one way to get things done. It has instilled tremendous respect for the many different cultures, beliefs, attitudes, and preferences that exist on our planet.
I like exploring those differences in my stories, most of which happen to be romances. My characters have a tendency to want to do their own thing, so I often have to rein them back in. The one thing we all agree on is the desire for a happy ending.
I currently live in Canada, sharing my house with a vast collection of books. I like reading, traveling, spending time with my nieces and listening to classical music. I have a passion for science and learning new languages.

December 12, 2011Released today, on December 12, this is the fourth and final volume in my second linked cycle of New Horizons books. Each cycle features four characters, and each character gets a book for his story.
Developing the Counsellor is the second part of Emilio and Ivan's story, both of whom first appeared in Saving the Bodyguard. Ivan knows he needs to come out if he wants to keep Emilio happy – will the people from his past manage to interfere with his future?

I could imagine Ivan and Emilio's lives while reading.

2.5 stars (It is rare for me to give a 5, I save those for the books I'll read over and over again.)
I must first say I'm a huge fan of Serena Yates work. I own all her books in e-book format for my own personal collection and I sell her paperbacks.
After reading books 5 & 6 of this series (and LOVING THEM), I was disappointed with both this book and part one of their story 'Developing the Counsellor'. The combination of both books is set in a span of 10 days. There is very little character building and each build up, whether coming out to family, dealing with the ex, or showing how they feel about each other is concluded in a sentence or a paragraph. This doesn't even feel like a Yates book. Almost like some editor was having a bad day and messed with her work.
Still I'm looking forward to more of her books. I'm not going to let one story stop me from buying then as they come out.

it was nice but i found it a little too rushed at the end.
