What a helpful book! I got it for my husband but have dipped into it, myself. This book is written by a man (non-medical) who was striving to understand what his wife was going through while she went through the change. I found a great deal of understanding and sympathy in it-- even moreso, in many ways, than from books written by women about menopause. It has really helped to read that menopause doesn't mean "broken" or "deficient." Medical science has always treated menopause as a "deficiency disease." Well, it's not a disease! The author provides non-judgemental details about the types of treatment that are available for managing bothersome symptoms, but leans more towards a natural viewpoint, which I appreciate. He deals with the subject with humor.
The book appears to be out of print... I'd recommend buying a used copy before they're gone, and setting it aside until your 40's. You'll be glad you did.
This book has Steven Covey's and Susan Weed's endorsement. Mine, too.
Trying to understand middle-aged women, try reading No, It's Not Hot In Here: A Husband’s Guide to Understanding Menopause. It’s a book that covers biology, psychology, and a variety of treatments available to menopausal women, written by a man for other men.
Using accurate information and humor in this book, the author, Dick Roth, describes what menopausal women want from their husbands, with their biggest want being the need for understanding. Making this a valuable book, it includes a list of useful organizations and their websites. Another interesting piece of information is that this author, in his 60s, is known as an Olympic gold medal winner for swimming, holding the world record in two events
No, It's Not Hot In Here will benefit readers, both men and women, in all stages of life.
