The Zombie Apocalypse as it should be done. This cracking story focuses mainly on two families, the Griners (James and Stephanie) and an old couple, the Ewings (Oris and his wife Margie who has cancer). The writer does a very good job of giving two different viewpoints for the two families so it feels like two stories intertwined.
The suspense as you are taken from "there's a zombie apocalypse happening" to the actual zombies arriving is masterful. I really felt I cared what happened to these characters (especially the old couple) and the end of the story stopped me in my tracks - brilliant.
I have reviewed other books for this author and this one is by far and away the best (although the others are very good too!!).

If it is at all possible for a zombie apocalypse novel to be moving then this is it! This moved me in ways I didnt know were possible. The actual zombie action is secondary to the story of the protagonists struggles for survival. A fantastic story and a welcome change from this author to branch out into a longer story. More please Chris, you have a winner here!

This is a superb novella centering on a Zombie Apocalypse, with some excellent horror scenes, which are definitely not for the nervous! However, in addition to the horror, the author introduces us to two main couples in the story, who, in turn, have to learn to deal with their relationships and survival during this terrifying time. I could actually feel the desperation and sadness that one couple endured, it was heartbreaking .The other couple brought another dimension into the story; fear, panic and hysteria and with this, a very unexpected and unusual ending.
I have now read all of this authors’ work, and have honestly enjoyed them all, but with this book Christopher Beck has surpassed himself! It is well written, well thought out and extremely entertaining from beginning to end .I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to read a horror story packed with emotion.

This is a novella and I knocked a star off the rating for the beginning which is my main gripe with the book. The reason why is because the book began with a sex scene while it was not that explicit I found it to be unnecessary. I could have settled for less details. My main issue is that the sex scene makes no sense. Sex would be my last priority when the possibility of zombies coming to my house and trying to eat me is likely. I would be more concerned with getting supplies and boarding up my house. The story follows James and his wife Stephanie and sometimes their neighbor Oris, and a girl named Casey who will seek help from Oris. From the beginning the characters are well aware that the zombie apocalypse has begun. The problem is James and Stephanie are totally unprepared, they have a plan but it is not well thought out. Oris the neighbor who lives a mile away is holing up in his house with his dying wife. Early on you know that the characters live in a somewhat rural area and while town is not terribly far away the fact that they are somewhat isolated should be an advantage right? Unprepared James goes to town to get supplies and inherits a baby which is a product of contention for the couple. It is clear early on Stephanie is not handling the situation as well as James is and that leads to conflict later on. As I said James plan was not well thought out and adding an abandoned baby to the mix adds to the tension. I found myself wondering whats next and made short work of reading the book it took about an hour to complete. The ending is pretty surprising. I had figured out the twist before James did but it was still pretty shocking. None of the other zombie books I have read had an ending quite like that one. Overall it is a good read. Yes there are some grammatical errors but that is common in self published books if that does not bother you chances are you will really enjoy this novella.

It read like someone's first book. The up side was it was short the major draw back was all the typos. The story was good but the typos for me kept bringing me out of the story.
