This overview of Nebraska history follows roadways to the well-known and lesser-known points of interest from early French and Spanish explorers to modern agriculture and the ongoing plight of Native Americans.
Great book to get started; not a great book for historical depth. There's a ton of really amazing info here, and it was a joy to read. That said, there are numerous inconsistencies and contradictions when stories intermingle several pages apart as well as several historical inaccuracies and errors that I found once I started digging a little deeper into specific subjects. Is this book meant to be academic? No, and it does not read that way. However, I don't think it should always be this loose. I used this to get ideas for other research, road trips, etc., but would never use this as a main resource.
