Titus's Troublesome Tooth
Titus the Goat has a terrible toothache and everyone in the farmyard wants to help. But Titus doesn't want his tooth butted, pulled, pecked or scratched out, so he runs around grouching and grumbling. Then he finds out real help is on the way. Oh no, not the Vet!

Titus the Goat has toothache and his usual eating habits, carrots, cabbages, dandelions, dock leaves, tickly thistles and on occasions Farmer Harry's pants and vests off the washing line are curtailed.
He is not happy and expresses his opinion to all his farmyard friends. Each of them in turn offer him a solution but he is not enamoured by any of them as they all involve pain of one kind or another.
Then he hears the news that the vet is coming to the farmyard and this panics him so much that he runs around and around, grouching and grumbling ... but then, almost as a miracle he manages to solve the problem! Exactly how is there for all readers of this pleasant, well illustrated little story to see.

1. Titus’s Troublesome Tooth is about Titus the goat and his toothache. Titus enjoys living on the farm and eating all day. He enjoys thistles, carrots, dandelions, and even the farmer’s underwear. One morning he wakes up and finds he is unable to eat because of a toothache. He goes to all the barnyard animals looking for help but none of them can. Later that day he finds out the farmer called the vet. Titus does not like the vet and something really funny happens to end the book.
2. This book would be good for grade 1-3 depending on the students reading level.
3. This book could be a good way to talk about barnyard animals or to give to a student with a loose tooth.
4. Students who are losing their first tooth or have to go to the dentist I believe could benefit from reading this book.
5. For small groups I think this would be a good book for 2nd and 3rd graders. It would be a good book for students to pass around and read to each other.
6. This book would be enjoyable to read out loud to the whole class. You could read this to your students when teaching them about different animals.
7. This book is a part of the “Little Tiger Press” book series. There are ten books in total for this set.

We have some troublesome teeth that just will not break through the gums.
Since they're causing so much trouble, it felt like the perfect time to be reading this book.
The baby enjoys looking at the pictures. They're nice, bright, and not too cluttered for him.
As Titus is running around the farm, there's plenty of opportunity to make silly animal noises, and the baby finds this hilarious.

I read this almost a year ago, and don't remember much about it. 2/5 stars.

October 31, 2019It is a good book about the theme of tooth ache but does not really teach anything about dental health. It is better for teaching farm animal vocabulary and some basic problem solving.

A really nice book with a great rhythm too it - which makes it perfect for reading aloud with a class. I can’t wait to share this with my KS1 class.

Titus’s Troublesome Tooth is about a goat with a tooth ache. All of the farm animals offer to help him pull out his tooth but he is not having it. This is a good book to use in a shared reading setting because it has repetitive passages in the story. I have this book in the “big book” style so this would be a great read aloud for kids in PreK-Kindergarten.

To me this book was nothing special. I mean it was nothing bad but I felt the tone of it was like a Mr Men book. It has traces of humour and if you are reading aloud you can do different voices for the animals.
Children at work seem to really love this book and one or two return to it again and again so I guess that shows that it has something.

Squirrels class loved this story with a happy ending. They thought it was very funny when he ate Farmer Harry's pants and vests! We talked about how important it is not to eat too many things that are bad for our teeth, like sweets and cakes.
