Valerie Thorne loved her husband with passionate devotion. When they'd first met, Jonas's bewildering moods and stunning tenderness had breathed new life into her. Now, three years later, Valerie felt a deep desire to be his partner and his equal in every sense of the word.
A brilliant, dynamic businessman, Jonas faced few unsolvable mysteries -- except his wife. But after Valerie led him on a merry chase of discovery -- and self-discovery -- a tragedy threatened to part them forever. Suddenly the tables were turned. Jonas needed her more desperately than ever. Valerie would have to summon all her strength to lead them into a future brighter than they had ever dreamed possible!
For as long as she can remember, Joan Hohl has always wanted to be a writer. Her mother said Joan had her head in the clouds, always daydreaming. The only thing was, Joan's daydreams had plots!
She is a popular U.S.American writer of over 60 romance novels since 1980. She also signed her novels as Paula Roberts and Amii Lorin
Thinly stretched conflict & plot meanders. Conflict solved (wife wants to have a career too instead of being a homemaker), so what else can we have here ? Oh yeah, wifey gets preggers, ex-wife almost expires, hero pulls a double duty of being a grand-dad & a dad, but he doesn't know yet cuz he gets kidnapped, then is presumed dead during rescue mission gone wrong. Amnesia kicks in, he turns into a hiker w/ no identity, walking from crime scene (central America) all the way back to luv nest, teary reunion ensues. I'm exhausted. U'd think this was a bad soap. Too much reminiscing, going down memory lane, it's like the template from 1st book gets tweaked here & there to squeeze out a story & fillers. Oversexed H/h get it on every chance they get, apparently raging hormones go haywire after 3 yrs of marital bliss.
4 Stars! ~ It’s been three years since Jonas married Valerie. Their marriage has been turbulent and filled with overwhelming passion. Jonas is still the workaholic genius. Val though is no longer the young woman who needed to be taken care of when they first married. With Jonas’ love she’s found her confidence again. Jonas loves Val to distraction but he’s confused with the changes he sees in her. Slowly it seems their marriage is drifting apart, as Val learns to stretch her wings. Val wants more than anything to be Jonas’ true equal and partner, not just the wife that takes care of all his needs. She needs for Jonas to trust her with all his life. And just as Jonas realizes how confining he has made Val’s life, tragedy almost tears them apart.
I loved reading more about Valerie and Jonas. Jonas is still the arrogant and determined hero though this time he goes on a journey of discovery. Valerie is no longer the uncertain young woman Jonas married. She’s found her inner strength and now only needs Jonas to validate that. I loved the sparks between these two. Great chemistry. And some pretty hot love scenes. Another one for the keeper shelf!
This sequel to "Thorne's Way" was disappointing, as it promised more than it gave. It seemed like it was going to be a story about how Val felt neglected by Jonas, who seemed content to have her stay at home (when she used to work for him, before they got married) with nothing much to occupy her time, while he devoted more of his time to the business and less to her. She fills her time with taking classes, getting involved in different causes and wishing for a baby. What she really wants is to have Jonas respect her as a person separate from him, not treat her like his prized possession.
Later, she returns to work, but instead of focusing on that (and her and Jonas working together), too much time is wasted with rescuing Jonas's troublemaking ex-wife, Lynn, leading to a whole kidnapping/presumed dead storyline that was draggy unnecessary, and took the book way off its original idea.
