‘Ten Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed’ by Tina Freeman is a fantastic traditional rhyme. This book is best suited for children between the ages of two to four. The Holes in the book are perfect for little fingers. Parents/ teachers can use this book to help teach their children their numbers from one to 10. Children will also be introduced to subtraction with this book as the number of monkeys gets smaller. The colours and pictures are fantastic and very exciting to look at. Teachers can get children to dress up and really engage them when telling the story. I would definitely recommend this book for young readers.

Nursery rhyme
This nursery rhyme will have children jumping around and singing along while learning their numbers. The concept of the large book will be very intriguing to children and the picture holes on each page will help them engage with the book. Teachers will love this book because the size will be resourceful in read aloud activities, everyone will be able to see it and the students will be able to count the monkeys on the bed. All kids learn this nursery rhyme, but this book offers it in a fun, creative way.

Again, extra bonus points for getting to sing this with my Grandmother's youngest sister and her Grandson. I love that the Doctor gets more and more animated with each new monkey that falls out of bed.

The picture book "Ten Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" is a story of ten monkey children who are told to go to sleep by their mother, but disobey her by jumping on the bed after she leaves the room. The setting is the monkeys' bedroom and the narrator is omniscient. As the reader turns each page, another monkey falls off the bed and breaks his or her head. When the mother calls the doctor, the doctor tells them not to jump on the bed anymore. The monkeys do not follow the doctor's orders, and continue to get hurt as a result. The story starts off with ten monkeys, and counts down to zero until there are no more monkeys jumping on the bed because they are all injured. A theme and lesson of this story is to follow directions; the reason the young monkeys continued to get hurt was because they were not following the orders of the doctor and their mother.
This book is intended for readers who are learning to count, so about ages 5-7. It is appealing to young readers because it is something to relate to. Most children test their parents at some point; many of them by jumping on the bed. This book teaches children that there can be negative consequences to not following the rules. The catchy and repetitive language is also appealing to the audience because it takes a story that could be quite sad and makes it slightly humorous. The illustrations in the story also contribute to the overall lighthearted vibe of the story. When someone thinks of people breaking their heads, they might envision blood and guts, which could potentially be quite frightening for young children. This book, however, has illustrations that are age-appropriate, using cartoon images of monkeys with bandages instead of graphic pictures with gore and blood. This book is also appealing to young readers because the author uses animals instead of people to tell the story. Animals are appealing to children because they provide comfort; something that may be needed when reading about monkeys getting hurt.
A strength of this book is the repetitive language that is used to tell the story. The same phrases are used throughout the book and are repeated as each monkey falls off the bed. This makes the story catchy and uses rhyming, which, in my opinion, helps the book flow and enjoyable to read. I thought the book was cute, and would recommend it to parents and teachers who want to teach their children how to follow rules and counting strategies. I liked reading this book both as a child and as an adult. As a child, I thought the book was humorous because I could not believe the monkeys continued to jump on the bed, despite seeing their brothers and sisters breaking their heads! As an adult reading this book, I appreciated recognizing the different techniques used to teach children to count.

10 little monkeys jumping on the bed was another of the books that I read myself as I was growing up. The book focuses on the theme of counting. This book does this through the story of a family of monkeys, more specifically the ten little monkey siblings in the middle of the night before bedtime. The story is about the ten monkey siblings that are all playing around on the bed before bedtime. Each time the monkeys play, one of the monkeys falls of and bumps their head on the floor causing the mother monkey to call the doctor, resulting in that monkey being unable to jump on the bed due to its injuries. The book goes on like this, and this is what the book uses to teach the theme of counting. Throughout the story as the monkeys play and fall off one by one, the reader begins to count reach monkey going from ten little monkeys jumping on the bed to no more monkeys jumping on the bed. A secondary reading that I related to when reading 10 little monkeys jumping on the bed, was the one on Nursery Rhymes. 10 little monkeys jumping on the bed is a nursery rhyme that uses techniques such as personification.

This book takes me back to so many memories. I used to read this book growing up over and over again. It was one of my favorite books that my mom read to me. I used to laugh so much at the book, I thought it was so funny. Sometimes after I read the book I would go into my room and start acting the book out. The book is about ten monkeys who are jumping on the bed. As the story goes on and the monkeys continue to jump on the bed, they slowly one by one start to fall off. "Ten little monkeys jumping on the bed.. one fell off and bumped his head. Mamma called the doctor and the doctor said, no more monkeys jumping on the bed". That didn’t stop them though. The story continues until they all fall off the bed. This story can be used as a lesson to teach children to listen to their elders because they have the best intentions set out for them.

“Ten little monkey jumping on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head. Mother called the doctor and the doctor said, ‘No more monkeys jumping on the bed!’”

The well-known children's nursery rhyme uses repetition to help young readers learn sequence and numbers as they count the monkeys who fall off the bed. This oversized book, the Child’s Play version, has die-cut circles that encourage the child to interact with the brightly-colored illustrations as well as with the words.

Young readers are sure to enjoy singing the song and seeing how the mother and the doctor react as another monkey falls off the bed.

Great book for counting, observations, and of course safety! Humorous for adults, as the mom pops up in the doctors off days to inform him that yet another monkey has jumped on the bed, and fallen. We have the large book version.

This book is agony to read. So repetitive and boring. There is a reason Oriole shorten the song to 5 Little Monkeys...
Although it is nice thar some of the monkeys are girls.

Classic nursery rhyme. Lovely art. Playful views through the holes in the board pages. Wonderful expressions on the monkeys' faces. Good for counting backwards from 10 to "no more".

Una canción infantil clásica en inglés. Arte bello. Vistas interesantes a través de los agujeros en las páginas duras de cartón. Magníficas expresiones en las caras de los monos. Muy útil para aprender como contar al revés de 10 a 'no more' (nada más).

The illustrator, Tina Freeman creates nice colorful images, making sure the expressions on the monkey's faces match what is expected of the text. I like that you can predict which monkey is going to fall off the bed by hiding the page on the opposite of the crease. Although this is not the original version of this story, where the mother jumps on the bed at the end. It shows the mother's exhaustion, which is a feeling that can be predicted by inferring from the illustrations.

Ten little monkeys are jumping on the bed, what happens when one fall off and bumps his head? Well the doctor of course says no more monkeys jumping on the bed! Doo they listen? Of course not!!!

The media used n this story is pen, ink, and watercolor.

This is a good story to read so that kids understand that when their parents ask them not to do something they are trying to protect them from getting hurt sometimes.

Awesome story about how ten little monkeys were jumping on the bed. Great for students to relate to if they have done so. Also great book about following directions and how if you do not, you can get hurt. Great rhyme scheme and great illustrations.
Good read for Pre-K and Kindergarten

This is a fun book to use when building children's number sense. 10 little monkeys are jumping on the bed despite what their mother and the doctor say. One by one the monkeys fall off the bed and it helps children count and subtract one each time.

Basically this story teaches us that if you have 10 kids you have zero control over what they do. I think any overwhelmed care taker and relate to this story. It's a silly and fun read for a little kid who just likes the sounds and bright colors! Perfect classic monkey story!

This is a cute children's book that is fun to read to kids. I've had the pleasure of re-reading all of the great children's books (that I read to my kids years ago) to my stepson.

A counting book (I seem to have a different edition--and the illustrations are much more aesthetically pleasing in mine--old school) with very little substance but entertaining for younger children.

Great book to use with prediction and inferring strategies. This version doesn't stay true to the original version, so you could also use compare and contrast strategies between the two versions.
