Justine Korman is the author of over 600 children's books, including mega-selling adaptations of Disney hits like THE LION KING, plus her original popular GRUMPY BUNNY series for Scholastic.

Justine has been writing all her life. She worked part-time in publishing while earning her B.A. in English Literature, Phi Beta Kappa from New York University. While an editorial assistant at Golden Books, she met her future husband and partner, Ron Fontes, an artist in the Whitman Comics department, who moved on to mighty Marvel Comics.

When Justine started getting freelance writing assignments, Ron pitched in and a children's book writing team was born! Ron brought visual storytelling, theatre, and history; Justine enthusiasm, humor, and a straight-A attitude.

In 1988, the couple moved to Maine, where they have written everything from beginning readers and novelty books to historical fiction and graphic novels.
Justine's hobbies include fitness, juggling, gardening, cooking, and playing the ukulele. She also enjoys making movies with Ron.

The prolific couple's goal is to write 1001 children's books.

Hopper O'Hare thinks he has figured out how to duck out on clean-up time in his school classroom, but the teacher and fellow students aren't having it. Finally stuck with cleaning up his own mess, he gets help from Lilac Lapin, who volunteers to show him ways to make tidying time a fun time.

Lilac obviously has an obsessive-compulsive personality -- and I know this because her cleaning philosophy made so much sense to me -- but I find it hard to believe she can pass her love of order onto Hopper like a virus even if that's what the book is claiming. Maybe Hopper got an instant crush and is willing to do anything to please Lilac?

It's a fairly bland children's story in writing and art but with a bit of a retro vibe.

The first time I read it with my daughter in 2007, she liked it, but I was indifferent then and remain indifferent today.

This is a very sweet "learning" level 1 book. Grumpy Bunny likes to play but when it comes times to clean up he's always busy doing other things. His classmates sees that he's not doing his part and so the teacher makes him miss a class to clean up. Another little bunny asks if she can help because she likes to clean up. He can't believe she LIKES to clean up. But she teaches him it's like playing and she uses her imagination to clean up. He can't wait to return home and clean up his room and find all the lost things he hadn't seen in forever.

My 4-year-old and I both loved this book! As a parent, I loved that it turned clean up time into a game. It's a "Level 1" reader but I'm not sure what that means. To me, a "Level 1" would be a book with easy words, repeating words, and only one or two sentences per page. That was not the case with this book. I thought this had quite a few words for a beginning reader and not all the words were easy. It's also divided into chapters.

A very good book to show that cleaning up can be fun if you make it a game!

Read this to your little ones who don't like to clean-up and it will help them realize that picking up after themselves is an important part of growing up!

After all "that is what all the big boys and girls do!"

Grumpy Bunny by Justin Korman Fontes is a great book to introduce students to cleaning up and daily responsibilities. In this story, Grumpy Bunny always makes a huge mess but doesn't like to cleanup after himself. His friend however teaches him how cleaning can be fun and entertaining.

Wow! We have been having a struggle with a child who is about the same age as the bunny in the story is supposed to be...we read this book and it seemed to help her change her attitude a bit.
